The Most Important Key To Success

I went an entire year, writing long content 3 times a week and had very little success. In that time I made 3 sales, got virtually no traffic and made $29 - not a very good return on 1000 hours of work.

I almost gave up but decided to give one more website a try back in late July. In 4 month of my new website I now get 100 organic clicks a day, made 50 sales and around $160 in commissions so far. Each month my traffic doubles and so does my commissions. In a year I expect to be getting a lot more traffic and to be making a full time income. I'm even starting to outsource content because I'm confident they will rank and earn money.

So what was responsible for my turn around? I saw success.

I don't mean visualize success or anything like that. I mean I started studying popular websites in my niche. I researched which of their keywords and articles rank and which didn't. I studied how many words they write and how old their domain are. I research the competition of every keyword I plan to write in google. I study the websites that rank for them intensely.

After I'm done with my research I make sure to put out content that beats theirs.

If I had to give one piece of advice it's to make a habit of researching your competition. What do they do good and what do they do poorly? What can you do better than them? How much content do they have? What's their traffic numbers look like (here's a website to check that: https://www.similarweb.com/).

Know your competition and then beat them if you can. Research every keyword you plan on writing against what's already on the first page of Google. Take note of how many words they write and how well written it is. If you are writing a "best of" post and the first result has 10 products, you write 15.

So if you're stuck like I was I would highly recommend that. I still have a LONG way to go but I'm more confident now than I was 5 months ago.

One last thing!

2017 is coming up - make sure to write some "best of" content with 2017 included. Those are easy to rank for and convert well. Almost all my sales have come from these "time" keywords.
