The average attention span is only about 30 seconds long
Hey Duane - I did something yesterday. I googled "wealthy affiliate review". I wanted to take a look at the top sites that showed up. Just to see ideas on how to improve my review.
I think I clicked the 3rd position. I scanned the post to see its layout, pictures, videos, and most importantly, how much content was written. I wanted to compare the amount of content a #3 google spot has to a guy like me who isn't even listed.
To my eyes, I was like "Give me a break, theres barely 2000 words here. How can he be in position 3?"
I copied the words and pasted it into a word count program. Low and behold, it was a whopping 6000+ word review!!
Here's my point. The post was so nicely broken up, and readable, it appeared to be SO MUCH shorter than it actually was. I could definitely see myself reading that 6000 word post, no problem.
If you make it interesting, break it up and make it readable, 1500 words is nothing.
It depends what you're writing about I would not read 15 words about a celebrity hairstyle however I would be perfectly happy to read 2000 word article on something that interests me
Having said that there are a lot of people that want to read about celebrity hairstyles, its horses for courses .
Oh dear Catherine,
I wonder what Cheryl Tweedy/Cole/Fernandez-Versini has done with her barnet today? I must check that out! ROFL

Is this were my Niche takes the lead, bringing in the one that wants to read about the things I write?
If someone is interested in something they'll read entire books on the subject. so I don't understand where you get this 30 second attention span thing from.
Even if it was the case, they can always come back and read some more at a later date/time.
Myself personally, when I research thing that interest me. I read page after page, site after site, take in endless amounts of info. I can't be the only one?
That means they aren't interested in what you have to say. Someone going to your website is there because they are searching for information. So the more you have to say, the longer they spend on your site.
If they like what6 you have to say, there's a good chance you'll be bookmarked, or they may go on to read your other articles.
Sure you do, if you write about something you're passionate about, readers will feel and gravitate towards you. Of course writing is an art, but you'll develop your own style as you learn and grow.
Anyone looking for information on a specific topic will read it.
Think about if you are researching something you want to buy. Eg. would you buy a new laptop based on a 500 word review. Or would you want to read a long review which goes into detail about why this is the best laptop for the price and what you can and can't expect from it.
But it's down to the quality of the content. If it's relevant and answers questions that they have, people will read it. If it's waffle, they wont.
You need to get their attention quickly and spark interest. Once they have the desire to find out more then they will read. You need to make sure you are stressing benefits to them. I use the AIDA principle.
Get attention, Gain Interest, Create Desire and hopefully create action to buy or do something
If someone is really interested in the topic, he/she will be happy to find a lot of information about it without having to visit multiple sites.
We target those people to get a sale.
And google loves it, too.
Yes, you always have to really try and help people first.
If you only want to sell, you most likely won't be successful.
People can usually see when a website only wants to make money without really offering help.

How many people actually read a 1500 word post?
The average attention span is only about 30 seconds long
To someone interested in the topic, 2k words isn't that much. It may take a while to read, but they will read it (I do). the issue with some posts you read on the internet is that people find them on social media and are only casually interested, and then the low attention span kicks in. But you can also provide internal links, video, and images to keep people's interest!

I interested in making money while I sleep
Thanks for all the advice, I realize that I have to start small. I just don't want to stay there very long.
Hello Duane, the simple answer is yes you CAN but the real question is "will you do what it takes to build it"?
There's no quick fix here, it's all about learning all you need to know, implementing it and working hard to achieve your goals.
You've been a Marine so I know you are used to hard work and even though I'm British, we stand shoulder to shoulder so I thank you for your service.
All the knowledge, training, skills and support you need are right here ready for you to learn....in fact there is no other place like it online so no point looking elsewhere, therefore it's up to you.
Check out this blog I posted a couple of days ago and see what you think about the potential: The WA Affiliate Programme, Can You Make Any Money With It? Good luck, and remember, if and when you need any assistance along the way, just ask the question and help will arrive soon enough.

Puffs out chest for getting such a positive response from an Ambassador!! hahahahaha :-)
Seriously Nathaniell, it's just what I think is right that's all, wouldn't be here if I didn't.
And thanks, by the way, much appreciated.
