39k YouTube views in 2 days!
7 months in and finally a small victory.
I went from 1.3 k - 39k YouTube views on one video in 2 days.
About a month ago I made a short video teaser / review of a product and yesterday out of the blue I hit nearly 40000 views on You tube.
The video is not winning any awards anytime soon but regardless, the manufacturer of the product liked it and offered to share it with their audience, so I'm sure this helped it gain more traction.
I cant be certain of this, but on the same day I had this massive jump in views, I had posted this video to my Facebook business page and gave it a kind of semi-provocative headline. By now we should all know headline grabbers are how you attract eyeballs and entice the click finger so long as it's not deceiving.
My Brand is Me
I am a musician so it's only natural I'm in the music niche. This my second video and I'm still practicing getting comfortable in front of the camera but it's all ME. This is important to me as I am representing my business as my genuine self and not some cartoon character, although I may still get more adventurous in time and wear a dinosaur onsie. he he
Designed For Short Attention Spans
It took a good few days of video recording and editing, with the goal of just getting my brand out there and maybe seeing some traffic.
Many Hours and days later, The video turned out to be only 2.33 minutes long. At first I wasn't sure if I should make it longer but it wasn't supposed to be an in depth review only a teaser for a gift idea which is my niche.
Hey ! Maybe I'm onto something as peoples attention spans are getting shorter by the minute with the millions of streams of media pouring onto our screens every second. Hmmm What was I saying again...
You Tube Ranking Tips
If there's one really IMPORTANT thing I learned to optimize You tube video rankings is :
Tagging your videos properly can mean the difference between ranking well and not ranking at all.
Make sure to look at the highest ranking videos in your niche and put about 3 of them in your tags as long as it's relevant to your video of course. If you are in the gain traffic niche, then you should make sure you searched for videos similar to yours and tag them with those exact keywords of your high ranking competitors.
Set a good thumbnail that shows either your title of your video or an info graphic overlay of your business name also makes a big difference. I write music intros as well for each video which is an insane amount of extra work but I'm thinking this is good for building my brand identity.
Use Video to increase your audience
I am now a believer that Video is the most effective way to engage an audience, even if some don't like you who cares, there are still many who will and do hopefully see the potential in your brand and what you bring to the table.
The Real pay off
Through this one video I also gained 235 new subscribers which according to my google analytics readings has increased traffic to my website exponentially, and means this campaign has been a huge success.
Here's the video proof

Hey Dan, just noticed your post here and had to check out your video...Awesome review, I see it's been climbing even more...up to 129,362 views now! Way to go!
Thanks for the helpful tips, btw...maybe someday I'll get over the video phobia, lol...I keep putting it off, but it looks like it's the way to go to get people's attention. Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more videos...great guitar work too, btw!
Best wishes :) ~Sherry
Hey Sherry,
Thanks for checking out my vid. Appreciate the king words and encouragement ! It is a bit daunting and strange at first talking to a camera phone. Atleast I didn't mess up the guitar playing. Ha Ha !
Best wishes to you too :)
No problem! I really enjoyed the video, thought the review was excellent for guitar capos...looks much easier than the old one I have too, lol. You did do an awesome job on playing the guitar, especially in front of a video camera...that takes some nerves of steel! :)
wow just saw this - it's on closer to 75k views now, that's amazing. Awesome video and I also enjoyed the guitar playing ;) :) Keep making the videos! :)
Hi Nat,
I know 75k views is bonkers and Iv'e made about $22 bucks off ads too. I appreciate you checking out the video and the feedback.
Hope all is going great in your world :)
How cool!! I'm hopeless with YouTube - but if you can make videos with that many views, you'll soon be making a very nice chunk of change :). Plodding along here, thanks Dan :)
