If Sage Can Do It, We Sure Can.
I wanted to share this picture even though it's a little sideways. It's an example of learning the expected and the extremely difficult. This is Sage. With lots of repetition, she has learned what two buttons mean and how to use them. Today, she spontaneously walked to the red button and hit it. The button says, "Treat." Sage then looked at us and waited. The Yellow button says, "Go for a walk." For three days in a row, Sage has hit that button in the late evening. We immediately take her for a walk.
My point is that, if Sage can learn what a sound from a button means and then associate it with a specific action from us and then request that action spontaneously, we can certainly learn all the concepts presented at WA. It's not just learning the concepts, but also applying them, as Sage did, to get the desired action. We're not learning for a dog biscuit, but for a successful online business.
Sage had no idea why we had her push both buttons dozens of times, but eventually she associated the noise with the reward and then the reward with getting us to act. We have an advantage. We understand the reason for sticking to it yet. Still, sometimes we think it's just too much or it is taking too long. Well, think about Sage asking for a treat whenever she wants one. Consistent learning and doing helps Sage and us "Keep on Fishing'."

Sounds like you have a smart pup there Jim...
Repetition is indeed a key factor in learning!
Thanks for the share my friend and enjoy a wonderful Sunday!
I always wondered where the phrase “sage advice” came from. Now I know.lol.
Now I’m going to have to try this out on the wife. Red button = beer, Blue button = food. Owww, she says any button = pain.lol.
Stephen
You've forgotten the "pink" button for "something else" Stevoi, but I'm not sure I can mention this here!!
Pain was not the worD actually said, it went more along the lines of “kale” which is Vietnamese for scissors and sausages. I quickly shut up and crossed my legs…lol.
Trying to buddy, but my wife said I need to get more in touch with my feminine side…….so…I crashed the car….then I ignored her all day for no reason. Lol.
Hi Jim,
That is wonderful.
I think I may have to try that out with blog buddies.
Have a wonderful day!
Great conditioning, Jim
A combination of being disciplined and motivated will get us through our online business
Great story quite motivating.
They say it takes about 15 to 20 days of doing something to make it a habit. 😜👌
I have heard that. Repetition is the key to learning most things. thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
Jim
Learning something new is a challenge! Sage will remain an inspiration.
Fun story,
Thanks for sharing,

She really enjoys learning. I think consistent repetition is the key for most of us. Thanks for commenting.

Awesome, Jim. That almost reminds me of the old Pshycology 101 "Pavlov's Dog" experiement. One button pushed produced an electric shock, while the other produced a reward! Positive v. Negative reinforcement! Ah, the memories!

Hey, Jeff. I was thinking about that as we were teaching Sage. I was amazed when she actually walked to the button and pushed it without prompts.

Animals can often give us amazing insights into what is possible. Learning, wherever it comes from, has value. If an animal can demonstrate the possibilities by learning to communicate through buttons, then we can follow their example and learn something that will help us move forward. It's out there; sometimes right in front of us; we just need to pay attention.
