Being Still Brings New Insight

This Sunday and next have been important times of celebration in my life since I was a boy. Back then, the excitement was about family gatherings and traditional holiday activities. For all of my adult life, these two Sundays have been times of personal and professional celebration. The activities didn't change much over the years, but different circumstances gave different meaning to familiar traditions.

This year several things have brought me new insight into the celebrations I have been observing for so long. I am now retired so these two Sundays are completely personal for me for the first time in over 50 years. I don't have to worry about providing a meaningful celebration for others. Also, after a year of isolation and concern about COVID, my wife and I are fortunate to have received our full vaccination. So, our celebrations this year are very much part of the joy of this holiday season. We are moving about again. We are beginning to spend time with loved ones. Our old day to day life is new.

The connection between my online business and the meaning of these two Sundays for me is pretty tenuous, but its there. Online business is a new part of life for me. It has given me a means to be with those I love, wherever they are, and to help others, individual and organizations, that I probably will never meet.

Rather than bustling about preparing for two Sundays of celebration, this year I am sitting quietly and reflecting on all the traditions and teachings that have been in my heart for as long as I can remember. I am finding new meaning. I encourage you to sit quietly and reflect on the traditions and teaching that are dear to you, either lifelong or recently discovered. You may well find new meaning that can help you in business and day to day life in this different world.

I can see you are advocating for a time of sober reflections on the importance of the two next Sundays especially after the tumultuous year we had.
Kudos to you and your wife for getting your vaccine shots. I got mine but I can't get my wife to get hers.

I hope she relents. Thanks for reading my post.

Awesome, Jim! Quiet reflection is a good thing--especially on the "Day of Rest"!

A very nice idea Jim. Thank you. I love it!

Excellent Post & Share Jim. I am retired myself and hope because of vaccinations would like to move about a little more. Thanks for the thoughts.

Thank you for sharing, Jim. I find it a worthwhile practice to be contemplative. I find I'm able to notice the gifts that are present. "Be still and know that I am God."

Please keep sharing. I appreciate your perspective.
