Remaining Steadfast in Prayers!

In the hustle and bustle of everyday living, we oftern forget what is important to us. What's nearest and dearest to our lives........time for ourselves.....time for our families......time for the good things in life........something more important than all of these.......Time for GOD!!!

Over 5 working days from the 1st Oct to the 7th Oct, I was involved in a Prayer Vigil in my sons' school with other parent volunteers. The task .....or rather our undertaking.......to gather together as a praying community in solidarity during a major important exams for our boys (my sons go to a Catholic Boys School of the De Lasalle Order - St. Joseph's Institution Junior).

In Singapore, a major exam takes place at Pri.6, when all children are 12 yrs (grade 7) where scoring well in this exam determines their ability to get into a secondary school fo their choice. Thus to give the boys support and encouragement after their long prepartion, we as parents, non-catholic and catholic, gathered in the schools chapel for a praye vigil which was held for all five days of the examinations for the whole duration of the papers.

During this time, there were prayers for our chldren adn all the children taking exams, there was scriptural readings and meditation, there was lighting of candles for each and every boy in the school who was taking the exams (done daily). There was daily mass, Praise & Worship, sharing of parents experinces of being touched and moved by the Holy Spirit.

Throughout the time, we as parents remained steadfast in prayer and gave all Honour and Praise to The Lord our God!

Just sharing that was deeply touched and moved and so were many parents likewise.

I hope this message gives all those who stop by to read, some encouragement and motivation and to know that the Lord our God is always there for us and works in mysterious ways.......so we should always remaind steadfast in prayers.

Blessings!

Dan

Never, EVER, underestimate the power of prayer!

As for God working in mysterious ways, we witnessed that this past week at our middle school. One of our students was picked up from school by his teenage brother. His brother was driving too fast, missed a curve in the road, lost control, hit a tree and rolled the car.

In the process, our student, who was sitting in the back seat with no seat belt fastened, was ejected from the car, not only thrown over 100 feet, but over an EIGHT-foot fence as well, and landed in someone's backyard! While he sustained some pretty nasty cuts to his head, stomach and leg, he suffered no head or neck trauma. I spoke to one of the police officers who was on the scene and he told me that that he has never seen someone survive an accident like that. Our student, who is alert and well/joking with family and friends, will be released from the hospital in about three weeks.

You can't tell me that the Angels of the Lord weren't looking after that young man!

And all of this took place after, earlier in the afternoon, two girls from one of our high schools were hit head on by a driver going too fast. From the looks of the cars, no one should have survived. In fact, one of the girls had to be cut out of the car. Somehow, both girls survived with "only" broken bones and facial lacerations.

Yes, God DOES work in mysterious ways!

Praise the Lord! Thanks for your sharing and testimony Vince! You are right to say that the Lord has sent his Guardian Angels to look after the little boy and the girls. In fact, we all have our own Guardian Angels looking after us each and every moment of our lives. We must never forget that and always know that we only need to ask for help and guidance and they will protect us as they have been destined to.

We can only wonder with Awe at Our Lord and All he has done, is doing and will do for us! Amen!

Thank You for sharing. This whole world needs to be holding many prayer vigils. Unfortunately many public schools here in the US would not allow an open display of faith on a school campus. What saddens my heart is prayer and the Bible were foremost in the minds of our forefathers, well I better not go down that rabbit trail. I am honored to call you my WA friend; someone not ashamed to share his faith. Thank You! Have a blessed day!

Thanks Suzy! And I am honored to have you as part of the WA Family as well. I'm am fortunate that being a Catholic, I put my boys in a catholic school, as such prayers, praise and worship and mass is a weekly practice. I guess that many of the public schools in the US are like those here in Singapore, where they choose to be secular so as not to offend any other race and religion. But even in our catholic schools, we have a number of Hindu and Muslim boys, all of whom we prayed for as well. "Seek and ye shall find.....Ask and ye shall receive....Knock and the door shall be opened....." Lord..We Believe! Bless all the souls who are suffering and need our prayers.

Totally! The steadfast prayer avails much. I'm so glad to hear that your school have that support to their students. How I wish all schools, whether private or public, would encourage such activity in their campuses. I bet we can develop great citizens of our countries when the youth are bathe in prayers. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Betcha! It was really a heart-warming experience with the other parents, all united in prayer, praise and worship. Everyone took time off and leave from work to spend the time in prayer. Me, well I'm still out of a job, so it was extra special for me to spend time in contemplative prayer with Our Lord!
