Blogging makes me sick...
I don't know about you but the idea of blogging makes me sick. I mean what do you write about anyway? Do people really make money just writing whatever pops into there head (like I'm doing now) or is there some strategy to what they write? Do you have to be some marketing guru who uses hypnotic magic words to get your readers hooked on whatever you are saying so you can sell them without being too obvious about it... beats me my friend but I do know this, I'm willing to write whatever it takes if I can generate one single residual cent online. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about! There are so many scams out there that it is difficult to find the real information, support and direction you need to really make a single dime online.
I keep hearing success is journey and not a destination and I should focus on the journey which will have bumps in the road and issues and hickups... but man I can't wait! I want success now! now! now! :) OK well patience is not my strong point.
Let's grab that praverbial bull by the horns and figure this thing out together. If anyone out there actually reading this blog post (my very first one) needs shoulder to cry on or someone to bounce an idea off of then let me know. Its going to be a long journey for all of us and it is better that we don't make it alone.

Everyday I write, have filled hundreds of composition books. Blogging, writing for my websites are a daily task. Have learned more and more on how to do what needs to be done. When I don't - I reach out and ask for help - often times more difficult than trying to figure it out on my own. Being someone who has had a lifetime in the medical field, asking for help versus providing help is a huge gap in my mind....but getting smaller...because here in the community of the WA we become like family.
Blogging, asking and helping is what we do. Here and on our websites. ^_~
I just mean this whole marketing thing is so big and has so many angles and building a website is totally new for me. Content is ok for me.I can write and have ideas but right now I am lost finding my way around the wordpress website.I am watching Kyle's video again- and again...
Oh! I see what you mean! It can be confusing finding your way around wordpress and understanding pluggins, templates, etc. I sometimes take it for granted since I'm a programmer and work with this stuff all the time. For me the big hurtle is the content :) We all have hurtles to overcome!
Dave, your blog achieved something: knowing there is a real person out there and showing us a little about yourself. We could not build a supportive community without that. Like you, I am impatient, but have come to the sober realisation that only steadily acquired knowledge at the pace at which I can grasp it will get me anywhere. And this also requires action- a little bit every day and putting into practice what I have learnt, else I cannot actually retain that knowledge.
So, good to meet you and let us support one another!
Nice to meet you to Christine! Thank you for reading my first blog! I'm getting over the stress of writing and hopefully will be doing it more often. I'd appreciate feedback on my blogs and websites and I will do the same for you! Don't underestimate your ability to retain knowledge (I fee the same way sometimes). You are retaining something! Maybe not 100%, no one really does unless they have a photographic memory, but definitely not 0% either somewhere in between :) Just keep at it and don't give up!
I am just wondering:does endless blogging bring any advantage to our online business? I am just getting to level 3, and have already written sooooo much content, the thought of even more blogging is somewhat intimidating. Any advantage to posting blogs to Street Articles? Not sure what the purpose of that is? Any ideas?
Dave, i will stick to : taking the bull by the horns...it really describes how many of us feel about blogging... so this is what it means, have the guts to do what seems so difficult... I myself need to do that. My goal is within 36 hrs...I am already trying to think what am i going to relate, but my 36 hrs. are running this very minute ! Thanks for leading the way.
Thanks Alvaro! It's hard getting myself motivated after a long day at the office but at WA I'm finding a group of like minded people (like you) who are very encouraging and make the learning process enjoyable! Thanks my friend!
Dave, speaking of encouragement, you are solely guilty and responsible of this https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/alvaroc/blog , and I did it on account of having given you my word, with a dead line in time, compromises are always meant to be met. Thanks a lot buddy ! thou that has nothing to do with quality, but please bear with me.
Hi Dave, you got a different writing style, and a new fan in me:).
Firstly choose a topic of interest or a topic which you would crave to learn about by reading through new articles. Now, assume that I am the visitor of your site, I know nothing about your site's niche and contents in it.
1.So start off helping me know the aim of your website(home) and about you.
2.Tell me something interesting about your niche using posts. Guide me through the ways the product/information can be helpful in my life.(good amount of articles on it to gain my confidence, because I'm stubborn to believe in you;))
3.Ways to purchase the product with benefits/discount. (I love to buy products at reduced cost)
4.Keep me up to date with offers and articles, true reviews.( now I know you are legitimate)
Writing articles at the start can be painful(Initially I struggled to write 300 words, found it hard to push it to 400). You get the flow, once you are in it. Let's get it started now.(and by the way nice ergonomic keyboard:))
Thanks for the encouragement Brian for the encouragement and outline! I will definitely follow it. Writing was one of my better grades when I was in college :) but since then I've been writing C/C++/Java/Objective-C and basically only a computer may find me entertaining or funny these days :) LOL I crack myself up!
Just to answer your question.."personal" blogs where people write about their lives or random things don't really earn money. The term "blog" just makes writing articles/posts really. I write about specific topics on a specific website. There is structure to what I write, but mostly I am just providing answers to questions in my niche. I don't use anything special, I just write my style and link people to products that would help them.
You have the right attitude though, so I'm sure you will pick it up!
Thanks Dom :) I was up just wondering if I can write something off the cuff. I'm just going through the getting started vids and hopefully I can learn how to actually generate content that will make me money. I've looked at online businesses before and the appeal of residual income is great, it just takes a lot of learning to figure out a process that will work.
Do you know if the blogs within WA can be picked up by google? I mean if I actually write blogs with keywords and use the proper techniques is there a chance or will people need to be members and only see it internally?
By "blogs" within WA do you mean the websites that are available to build, or do you mean the actual blog that you publish here..such as this very post for example?
Either way, both of them will index in Google of course, that's most of what we do!
Yep, these ones definitely get indexed. A few days ago I blogged about a WordPress plugin here, and the DEVELOPER of the plugin found my post in Google, and left a message saying thanks for talking about it!
You should keep the blogs here at WA on topic though, related to online business etc where possible.
I completely disagree with you. If you didn't write this blog it would have been impossible to have connect with you. Your talent is in creating mobile apps, so why not create a website detailing that who knows u may get some instant business, anyway this is to wish you great future at WA.
Thanks Georama for taking the time to read my first blog :) I think what I mean is that I'm nervous about writing in general but I will do what it takes no matter how nerve racking it may be to try and make some money online.
I'm hoping I can get out of the mobile app business since it takes so many hours to write apps and the only time I've ever made money with apps is when I get paid $75-$150 per hour to write them. I've never made any real money with apps that I've written for the app store since there is so much competition and my graphic skills are just not that great. Hopefully the potential of spending an hour writing a blog post that can generate perhaps even a few pennies or dollars a day will be better then spending three to six months writing an app that generates $144K (before taxes) but that's it. I need to find customers that are willing to pay $150/hour and then spending 1000 hours writing code. I can also spend 1000 hours writing my own app and only make 100 sales in the app store for .99 cents... hopefully I can learn a better way to generate income here at WA :)
