You Need to Claim Your Website on Pinterest!
So, as you may be aware, I have become somewhat obsessed with Pinterest recently!
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/dianescorpio/blog/the-power-of-pinterest-videos
And there is so much to learn, it's not just a case of adding pretty Pins and people will come flocking to your website!
You might know that here at WA, there is a Pinterest thread.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/wa-affiliate-program/let-s-network-on-pinterest
I decided to take a look at a few accounts to see if there were any obvious errors that people were making over and over again.
And yes, there is one big mistake that the majority of you are probably unaware of.
And that is the fact that you need to claim your website on Pinterest.
How do I know you haven't done that?
If all you have done is simply typed in a link in your profile, then yes, it will be clickable, but it will look like this.

(Apologies to the person who owns this site, it's just for demonstration, not a criticism!)
Now, look at the difference when you claim your site, it has an icon to confirm this.

So, why do we need to do this?
I can sum that up in one sentence - because Pinterest gives priority to accounts with a claimed website!
It promotes your Pins to more people, it puts them in more feeds.
You could be missing out on a lot of traffic!
So, how do you claim your website?
Well, that's a story for another day...

Someone on Pinterest, is currently using my website on their profile page (like you have above), but they are not able to claim it, thank goodness. I am looking online for the procedure on how to do this.
Not sure why they have my website in their Pinterest bio. Doesn't make much sense to me.
Hi Diane,
Thanks for this reminder. I had to double-check if my website is claimed, and yes it is.
However, I don't have the little website icon beside my site, only the clickable link.
I did this so long ago, I'm not sure if it changed, or if I did something wrong?
But, it's saying my site is claimed.
See the screenshot below.
Thanks, Diane.
I added my Pinterest verification code through AIO Seo plugin a long time ago.
I do recall at one point having that website icon, but now it’s gone. So maybe something changed.
If you have a Pinterest business account it will tell you if you have claimed your website. If it’s claimed you should have a green check mark (just as in my screenshot above).
I don't do social networking as a rule. But it appears more and more to be beneficial for us. Could I also "claim" my YouTube channel there? I recently started up an old FB/Meta account for promotion of my YouTube channel.
Thank you again for your efforts and time for us.
Hello Diane, Do you have a class that you set up , on Pinterest? You are such a good facilitator. We are learning so much from you all. Thank you for sharing. Please , kindly throw more lights on how to make money from our WA Web sites, on Pinterest. Thank you so much for being so helpful. LadyD2.
Hi - if you don't yet have a Pinterest account, take a look at this webinar. Pinterest Primer
Oh, it's worth looking into, Brenda, if you have the time.
I have a well-established Pinterest account, but below, I have added a screenshot from a new account that I started on June 20, so these results are within the last 10 days.
It's not like social media, you don't have to interact with other people.
Think of it as a visual search engine.

Hello Diane
Thank you for this great blog post. I was not are you have to claim your website on Pinterest or that they give you priority if you do. I have a link to my website on my Pinterest profile but I don't think I have claimed it as I was not aware of this.
I look forward to your future blog post about how to claim your website on Pinterest. Thank you again for this great blog post. All the best to your success.
