The Eyes Have It!
Hi Everyone,
It's been awhile since I posted a blog so I wanted to catch you up with my progress ....and I wanted to give you a warning!
First ..My Progress
I started the year off with a lot of motivation and enthusiasm to be more dedicated to my goals. I wanted to develop my website so I can monetize it, and I wanted to contrbute more to the WA community. I did have some successes.
- I wrote an Alphabet Analagy series for WA and got some wonderful, encouraging comments
- Some of those blogs ranked in Google and Bing
- I completed another Bootcamp course
- Worked on the appearance of my website
- One of my website blogs ranked on page one of Google.
All things considered, I was really happy with my progress. Unfortuately, at this point, I have to take a break from WA ...not completely....but enough to slow down my forward action. The reason being....
The Warning
I developed some eye issues that I feel are a direct result of my screen time. First there was just the eye strain and discomfort. But then I had a couple of episodes that really alarmed me. I was getting these neon colored prism-like flashes, except I wasn't looking through a prism! They lasted for a couple of minutes.I went to my optometrist and the exam didn't indicate any problem....healthy eyes.....WHEW!
I asked him about any negative effects from blue light" or too much screen time. Of course, he said that isn't anything to worry about. The problem is, I keep having these flashes. So, being that the "professionals", once again, failed to offer me any solustions....my ususal experience with doctors of any sort....I am left to my own devices to try to solve the probem. (After all, it only took them thirty years to diagnose my muscle weaknes as muscular dystrophy) Aside from the supplements and nutrients I am taking, I real need to see if staying away from my phone and laptop screens will help. This is going to be an almost impossible task, as I am practically in front of one screen or another for most of the day! I know we have had discussions about "blue light" and how to minimize its effects but I failed to listen. Check out this discussion. You can bet, I now have this software on my computer!

In Conclusion...
I really am going to try and stay off my devices for a while but rest asured, I'll be around somehow (my husband may have to step in and read and respond to a few emails!!) And I still absoultely love and believe in the possibilities that await me through WA! It's kind of exciting to see how creative I can get using a pen and paper. Who knows, maybe I'll be more prolific in the long run! I'll hand write my posts and have someone else type them in and post. I'll make it work but I just won't be checking emails 24/7.
Till next time....

Good afternoon Debbie,
I also have noticed that all these computer hours do not do my eyes any good. One really should be careful and not overdo it.
I hope you find a solution to your eye problem. I wanted to ask you are you on Pinterest? I see a lot of natural health tips on there.
Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske
Thanks Taetske....I'm not in Pinterest but I'll check it out. Right now I'm going outside and soak up some natural light! I'll send you some good information on supplements.
Debbie
Take care of yourself Debbie, your sight is crucial and you n Ed to protect it at all cost.

Absolutely...thanks for the comment. I want to acknowledge everyone's comments but I intend to give my eyes a break from the screen glare.
Sorry you have having these warning signs Debbie - I feel this is definitely due to the Blue Light from screens and devices.
You need to invest in a pair of blue-blocking glasses.
My answer to your revealing statement, "...I'll hand write my posts and have someone else type them in and post. I'll make it work but I just won't be checking emails 24/7".
Why not? That's how we all USED to do it in the 80's and early 90's and we produced great writing, actually I would argue EVEN BETTER writing.
I agree..anything is possible...I will get the glasses. I asked my doctor about them and he said they aren't very effective but I'll pursue that anyway. Thanks for the comment.

Flashing lights can be a sign of retinal detachment. Is your doc an ophthalmologist or an optometrist. Be sure you are seeing the ophthalmologist. I've had a detachment and fortunately, my optometrist caught it and sent me straight to a retina specialist and by 6 pm that night I was in surgery. I didn't lose any vision because I didn't wait. I had major floaters going no in the weeks prior to the detachment also. Do the finger test and make sure you can see one finger up and down and side to side all the way with each eye. My detachment was on the left eye from the back right of the eye and I couldn't see my finger with my left eye as I moved it past my nose. Its fine now.- Shirley
Appreciate your comments...he said I didn't have a detached retina...but he was an optometrist...I will go to an ophthalmologist since I still have the problem. Thanks.
sorry to hear this. sight is so important. take care of yourself and your eyes. hope you are back in full health soon.
Oh no, Debbie. So sorry to hear that your eyes are taking strain. And to hear you have muscular dystrophy. Shoo.
I do hope you can find a way to overcome this, if I come across anything that may help, I'll be sure to pass on the info to you.
Thanks...I'm OK...I've been dealing with muscle issues for years so it's not new...just labeled differently. I'm already breaking my pledge to myself to stay away from these devices!
So sorry to hear Debbie! Certainly, the optometrist could have made a recommendation? Perhaps another opinion?
Best wishes for your return to productivity!
