Since I currently own about 485 first edition books (been collecting for a while), I am thinking of building a new website around them. Does anyone think that would be a viable nic
Collectors of all kinds find people within their niche. So your niche which is collectors editions rare antique books would draw people who like those books ie: Historical societies... Etc. so, for what it is worth, I think your niche is a great one!
Hi there - the following is just my opinion. I am definitely no expert.
I think it might depend on whether these first edition books have any theme running through them or are just first edition books in random subject areas. Having first editions within specific subject areas would probably be easier. But I suppose, unless they are completely random, you could always make pages of specific subject groups.
I took a quick look at 'first edition books' in the keyword tool and it's definitely something that gets searched and doesn't seem to have too much competition.
Thanks for the comment. They are in various subject areas, some are more valuable than others. For example, I have a 10 volume set on the photographic history of the Civil War that is currently valued at 10k. I am not sure if something like that would be appropriate for a website or if I should just stick with recent authors like Stephen King or Tom Clancy areas.
I guess I should start with maybe finding keywords associated with author names and go from there.

Finding keywords associated with author names sounds like a good idea to me. When I looked up 'first edition books' I got keywords such as 'first edition harry potter books', 'stephen king first edition books', also 'valuable first edition books' and 'most valuable first edition books'.

you clearly have a passion for 1st edition books, and I would guess that you have connected with others who share your passion
will this niche have mass appeal, likely not, but what does that matter -- just taylor your site to your niche
as far as content for your site, think of what you discuss with the others who share your passion
- is it where to find 1st ed books
- is it how to care for them
- is it info about tradeshows
- is it some tales of how you (or others) came into possession of a particular volume
- the ideas are endless
- just keep your focus within the community - do not go for mass appeal
- find other websites that cater to the same audience and share stories - and when you do be sure to link back to your own site (maybe as a signature line)
your idea is great and has great potential

How to block Referral Spam and Countries within Google Analytics. Maybe this might help you out.
You have to buy tour own domain name, assign DNS server to WA, transfer the site, then register the web host DNS server to the host you choose. As for the rest... No clue

Every time I log into my wordpress site, an email is sent to my webmail address in clear text showing my username and password. How can I stop this from happening as it is not very

I'll have a look into this because it may be a setting within your WordPress installation causing this.
This is absolutely not a security risk because your password security relies on your email being secure as well. When you forget your password and use the default password reset function from WordPress, you get emailed a link to change your password so there is no security issue here.
Let me get back to you about this email every time you login.
