Do you have a daughter or son in college?
I have to admit, this is one area that really caught me off-guard. After many years in the computer industry, I am almost embarrassed to say that college networks never entered my mind!
When my daughters entered college, I bought them laptops so they would not have to lug a desktop from one dorm to the next. I soon learned when they came home on break, that college networks are like a swamp!
As soon as they plugged their laptops into my home wireless network, all hell broke loose! It took me 2 days to get everything back to normal again. I could not believe the number of things my daughters had "acquired" from school.
You name it, their computers had it!
Just be forewarned....before your children leave for college, make sure their computers are protected against all of this stuff!
If you have a wireless network at home, make sure you have security enabled.
After the first time they come home and turn their computers on, run a full virus scan on their computer before they connect it to your network. After a day has gone by, with their computers attached to the network, run a full virus scan on all the computers that are attached to your network.

Thanks for that very useful piece of advice. Btw how credible do you think Norton by Symantec is? What is the best anti-virus software in your opinion?
I have had issues with Norton in the past. The software embeds itself into the operating system a bit too much for my liking. In addition to overhead issues, the last time I checked, you had to download a tool on Norton's website just to be able to remove it from your system.
I have always liked eSet, Kapersky, Trend Micro or Checkpoint (ZoneAlarm). Anyone of them will do a good job, but I also use AntiMalwarebytes in addition to them. Just make sure you install the whatever firewall suite you choose before you install AntiMalwarebytes.

The issue with McAfee is that they have missed a virus here and there that the other products picked up on. They also had a major issue with one of their virus signature updates that they released. It caused everyone's anti-virus to stop working. Even though they rectified the situation we lost confidence in them.
