DDoS Drama!
So I had my first IM drama today. My site experienced a DDoS attack! I thought this was something that only happens to big corps and computer game servers, but for some reason a Chinese hacker decided to pick on little old me!
My site is currently hosted on HostGator (I signed up for the package before joining WA) and they seem to be doing a good job of sorting it out so far, although we'll see how long it takes for them to ultimately resolve it.
Just as a heads up for you guys, the IP of the attacker is: 58.49.29.46 You might want to block it and save yourself some grief!
Take care out there :)
*UPDATE* Site is now safe and sound on WA. Thanks for the excellent customer service!

Yeah, this will happen on hostgator...and godaddy, there have been MANY blackouts over the last year...their entire network goes down at times.
If you want a far superior service, you should be hosting your domains here. We offer a managed hosting platform here at WA, for more advanced than anything offered within the major hosts out there. Here is some perspective on the hosting offered here to members:

I hope for your sake this gets sorted out soon David!
Thanks very much for the response Kyle. I've been putting off transferring the site for a few weeks, but after this I'm going to get on it sharpish!
I appreciate the support,
Dave
Hi David,
Sorry to hear about the attack on your website. I'm sure the attacker was just attacking a server at HostGator and not your site specifically. True DDoS Attacks come from hundred of thousands of computers, not just one IP. If it were just one IP then blocking it would be very easy and most hosting companies have measures in place to block IP's in this case.
Either way, it sucks to have downtime regardless of the cause. Hopefully all will be sorted soon for you. You should consider moving your site over to WA at some point!

Hi Carson,
Thanks very much for the response and support, it's very much appreciated! Moving my site over to WA has been on my to do list, although it's much nearer the top after this incident :)
Take care,
Dave

I had it happen last year at Blue Host. UGH Sorry you had to go through this. I'm going to move everything here as soon as the renewals come up.
Yeh, it's not nice! Am sorting out the transfer of everything as we speak.
