Triggers, What Are Yours?
In a world where we are subject to a whole range of temptations, where do we find the ability to stay on course and complete the plans that we make?
Hw do we ensure that as marketers, we become better at behavioral change? We are so bad at it? How do ww get better at it? How do we choose what to change? How do we get others to see what we hav changed?
A tigger is any stimulus that moves our train of thought, reshapes our immediate actions and shifts us offf course. People, events, and circumastances alter the way we do things constantly.
Triggers can be pleasant like someone giving you a call to pass on good news. They can be counterproductive. They can stir our competitive instincts by being offered a pay rise to stay the course. They can drain us, like the nws of a loved one being very ill or the company is going out of business. They can be elemental like a beutiful spring day which tempts us out of our homes.
Triggers are infinite in number and come out of nowhere to steer you off your chosen path.
Our environment is the most lethal triggering provider of triggers. We make goals, set plans, and stake our hapiness on achieving these goals. But our environment constantly intervienes.
They say that a simple way of improving the sale of a house, is to bake cookies before that potential buyer comes around. The sense of smelling such a lovely odour, can trigger thoughts of being back at home when you were a child and all the happy thought that are involved at that time.
How many times have you been tempted away from your path to do something that you planned on doing, only to be too tempted and completely get thrown off track?
This is such a huge area to look at and one post is not enough to go through the whole topic, but what do you do to ensure that you stay on your chosen path?
What things do you avoid to get to where you want to go?
What strategies do you use to get to be the person that you want to be?
Are you aware that a strategy needs to be in place to make sure that triggers are avoided?
Do you think you need a strategy or are you infallible?
Part 2 tomorrow.

Of course I need a trigger Dave and anyone that says differently is probably not interested in improving their lot. Come to think of it I do know some that are definitely un-triggerable (is that a word).
Come on, let's get part 2 out.

Hi Dave
For me it’s:
- getting well organised
- having clear priorities
- taking appropriate action - next steps
- regular reviews/ tweaking anything that needs it
It’s a never ending cycle.

Good post. One way round this, I found years ago, when emails popped into my inbox, was to learn copywriting, so I god then write emails, earning me money instead of it going out of my bank.
Doing this is god, because, you learn to weed hout the headlines, you don;'t want and read something that MIGHT be relevant to your business

Passion is the key Dave. In this case, when you find a niche you LOVE, that is what triggers you to wake up in the morning and work to achieve your dream, which in this case is a niche site that you grow with passion and ambition and that is your compass to help you bypass all then negativity and distractions surrounding us.
