I'm On Top Of It ! (I think)

Have you ever had one of those days when you had lots of things planned but unexpected difficulties kept popping up and keeping you back?

I had hoped to get a lot more done today myself but I am heading to bed soon with many items on my to-do list still not stroked out. Never mind, there's always tomorrow.

I have had some reasonable success in driving traffic from social media - particularly Twitter in recent months but I have always shied away from Pinterest - simply because I don't consider myself to be very artistic. In fact Art was one of the first subjects I dumped at school. I don't think I can even draw a stick-man!

However I have heard of others getting good results from it so I decided to watch the replay of Jay's webinar on Pinterest from last week to see what its all about.

It's all part of my new fitness plan too you see. I pull up my exercise bike in front of my computer screen and pedal away while watching some training videos. It's only 7 weeks until I go on my holiday and I need to lose a stone (so I can put it back on when I'm away!)

I'm on top of that too (I think). But I digress...

Having watched Jay's webinar I decided this was something I could do and could potentially be a good source of traffic for my site. I started setting up an account with some boards - as per the training and then tried to make a few pins.

My first few attempts were like an explosion in a paint factory and the next few would have been rejected at Kindergarten but I eventually managed to cobble a few together that looked mildly presentable.

OK, Pins made. Add them to a board. Erm, where did they go? I'm sure I saved them on this board but they aren't there! Cue much searching for my missing pin - all to no avail.

Darn it - I'll have to make it again. Did I somehow hit delete instead of publish? Anyway, go through the same process, create pin and publish it.

Blow me! They are now both there! How am I making this so difficult! Right delete the duplicate and hopefully save everything.

That's it for today - on to the next task...

But no, up pops the offer - Spend £15 on ads and get £10 back.

OK, I gotta look into this - so I did. I started putting together an ad campaign and made a hash of it, Tried again and got something set up. OK, budget set, target keywords picked, now how do I make it active? What have I missed?

OK - I need to go look for some tutorial on this to make sure I don't screw it up completely...

And so my entire time set aside for business today was spent on Pinterest and everything else is left undone.

Oh well - I have learned some new skills and when problems occurred I focused on the solutions to the problems rather than wondering why I am having all these unfortunate problems.

Other jobs didn't get done but I'll schedule time for those tomorrow or Friday (or ask Heidi to do them - she loves YouTube!)

So was it a bad day?

Nope! Although I didn't achieve what I set out to do I still learned lots of good stuff which will benefit my business in the longer term. I updated my to-do list and my business is still moving forward - just on a slightly different path.

Problematic days are part of online business life. You just deal with it and don't allow yourself to lose faith or confidence. After all - we have each other here in WA to help and support whenever needed.

I'm on top of it still (I think). I hope you are too!

Good luck

Dave

I believe I have that particular T-shirt. Taking something away from days like these, is important, I think. In my cases it has just been managing to get everything back to the way it was before I made a total hash of things.
Tomorrow is whole other day.

Lol Twack. Yes i thought i had made a total screw up on several occasions.
Maybe things will be clearer after Jays next training and a bit more experience.
Thanks
Dave 🙂

Lol! Sounds like my past few days. Pinterest takes so much fiddling about but as you say as long as we’re learning it’s not wasted time! Well done for persevering! Have a great day today! Happy Thursday!

Hi Alex.
Yes it was a bit of a head melter for me. I found it tricky to navigate and find stuff I wanted to do.
I noticed I somehow had 3 copies of the same pin this morning so I need to figure that out too.
Hopefully it will be clearer when i look later after getting a bit of experience on it yesterday.

Thanks and have a great day 😀

Dave 🙂

Hi Dave, well done on making progress on pinterest! I intend to aswell...like I intended to last week!

Good luck with it.

Cheers
Adrian

Hi Adrian

Thanks very much. Yes it looks like it could have a lot of potential so I’m hoping to get it all figured out in the coming days.

Good luck to you too. Be sure to watch Jays webinar!

Cheers
Dave🙂

Cheers Dave, I will watch it.

Have a good day, and I hope Storm Dennis doesn't hit you too hard...

I plan to kitesurf it!

Hi Adrian

I will probably give the kite surfing a miss myself but i hope you enjoy it 😀

Dave 🙂

I plan to watch the replay, too. I definitely need to get moving on Pinterest.
Have a great Thursday,
Mickey

Hi Mickey
It’s great training as always and I think it has lots of potential too for building our business

Thanks
Dave🙂

Dave, you are doing good. I too have a lot on my list this week not accomplished. Need to press on. Some of it are really those that take a lot of time, like migrating plug-ins so just need to keep at it.

Hi Stanley.
The important thing is that you have obviously taken time to make a list of stuff to do. It’s half the battle when you know what needs to be done!

Dave🙂
