Getting negative comments on a Facebook Ad

I'm sure some of us have experienced this at some time.

But what do you do when it happens? Do you react? Do you ignore it? If it is worth replying to I will usually reply.

But if it is negative and could possibly have a negative impact on my campaign, I usually "hide" it.

To hide a negative comment doesn't delete it. It means it will only be visible to the author and their friends. I think that's reasonable and it won't appear on any future timelines.

I got one yesterday and whilst he is right about it being clickbait, isn't every Advert on Facebook deemed as clickbait? I haven't told any lies in my post.

Did it bother me? No, but the first time I got a comment like this it angered me. I must be a bit longer in the tooth now because I just shrug it off.

There was a part of me that wanted to reply to his Kodi Box comment but I think it's best to ignore it. Of course, I know they are called Android Boxes but that title was used for SEO purposes :)

Was I right to do this?

As always, your thoughts are welcome. What would you have done?

Craig, some negative comments can be answered nicely so a constructive conversation can be started. I'm not sure that's not one of them. So,well done on 'hiding' and move on :)

Giulia

I think hiding the comment is the best option. It's pointless to try reasoning with some people

Not sure but a good idea.

Randy

I really don't know. But, I understand that there are some folks at RAF Lakenheath that may be able to help. May be worth a shot.

Thank you for sharing, Craig! Smart decision.

It always bothers me Craig, when people like this need to vent their own frustration and assume you are not as knowledgeable as they are. Yes I tend to ignore the negative and mark it up to someone's frustration. Thanks for the advice on how to hide them.

People like this are just looking for a fight, Don't give it too them.

I had one and It was clear he was just being intentionally picky and basically lying to prove a point.

Like you I clicked the hide button. It wasn't possible to argue without dropping down to his level and that just wouldn't look professional. (as an airline pilot I thought he may of considered how unprofessional he was being?)

Sure in a personal setting I may have argued with him and made him look silly but as a business we can't be seen to do that! So off he went into obscurity...TBH I love that hide button!

That's a very smart decision Craig, hid r it without deleting it.
We don't need such negative comments seen on our ads.

Hi Craig, in as much as we would want to avoid such comments they will still come on social media flatforms. I'd personally delete the comment but it's good you hid it.

I wonder how effective are these campeigns. I paid for mine yesterday and all am getting is just likes on Facebook and just a handful of clicks on my website. Am asking my self, is it worth it?

Same here. I have my FB up and running but my regular FB is private.. but I do ask my friends list to like my page.. and a few other instagram folks and another beauty place app I use (my niche is beauty for South Korean Skincare products, makeup (US/Korean), and other beauty product reviews.. coupons/discount codes, etc.

The cost to boost your pages and shop on FB is a bit ridiculous....

I think so

Your reaction is the correct one, We are not going to please everyone Craig.

Its bad customer service to react with anger if you owned a shop so it's best to take that approach online.

I've even gone as far as to block the rather ruder members comments and move on.

well done great post and insight.

Thanks Darren. If they were rude I'd probably block them as well.
