A Time of Turmoil...and a Time of Transcendence.

Here's the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly...

And the Magnificent!

This Is For Those Who Fought the War At Home...

Hey man :-))

Hey Tania. :))

Hey Rick :-)) LOL hope you and yours are all well

Thanks-You, too!

Thanks for the post...There's some magic in the 60s...Love music and the spirit of that time, love clothes of that time..:)

It was a spirit-filled time! :)

Yes, it was... My mom was telling me about it. It was the time of her studies at Moscow university.I still keep and sometimes wear one of the skirts she was wearing.Cosmos! very bright and extravagant (like to shock people sometimes...) :)

All is not gray, Vera. You're colorful, whatever you wear. :)

No, sometimes I' m pastel...:)

The inner you. :)

I think you are right..:)

There's the film "Stilyagy" ( a kind of like "Hippy people") featuring that period in Russia.Lots of humour, love, beautiful people, good music , very high romantic relationship, betrayal, real drama- hippies were persecuted by the government... Lots of beautiful skirts , just like mine, broad and bright with a thin waist, looking really good...jazz and twist banned in the country at that time.. Music, or discs with the songs, were brought secretly from the western countries and recorded on xray films...Don't think people did it anywhere else in the world...:)

Wow-They were really feeling threatened by the love children! :)

Yes, and love children made the history. John Lennon and Janis Joplin, and Rolling Stones there and Bulldozer underground art exhibition here...(There was a group of young painters in Moscow with quite opposite views, and Chrutschev ordered that their exhibition be smashed by bulldozers.)If it hadn't been for those people we wouldnt talk with each other now, and we probably wouldn't have internet in Russia, etc. Mother said there was a girl, her co-student who was expelled from university for her relationship with an American guy.
And still, there were beautiful love people and beautiful music...:)

I imagine it was a lot tougher to express the freedom they were feeling. :)

Oh yeah, I believe so...:)

Simply Awesome! My journey started in 1956.
Thanks for the great post, Rick!

Mike

Thanks, Mike. It was a great time! :)

I remember it all so well! Loved everyinute of it! Good job Rick

Good times. Thank you, Anne! :)

Hi, I was born in 1954. My first cousin was an officer in the U.S Marine Corps. Hw did five tours of duty in Vietnam and was awarded five purple hearts. Irv.

His service is greatly appreciated, Irv!

I am a 1957er. My favourite thing - "way hay, we're the Monkees".
Take care all you sprightly young things (at heart anyway).

Thanks Lynn. The Monkees had some of the best writers of the day cranking out hits for them. The show was fun, too! "We like to monkey around..."

Love this one!
KariLee 1956

A few years ago we did a thank you celebration for Vietnam vets called LZ Lambeau. It was an awesome event and I am so grateful I was able to help in my own small way.

Thanks Kari-'Nam Vets did their jobs under rough circumstances, and were reviled when they returned home (the ones who returned). They really deserved better! :)

To everything there is a season...

So true, Kari. :)

It was a great time!
I'm a 1958 baby boomer!

Boomers unite! Thanks, Steve.

Boomers Rule!
Up to about 8:00pm anyway :-)

Say good night, Steve. :)

Love it, part of my teenage years.

A time of love and war, Mike!

A great decade - I was born in 61 :)

One of the great decades of history, Jude.
