Another One We Hear Frequently is: "If It Seems Too Good to be True, It Probably Is."

Apparently Not Always, Though!

FREEDOM THROUGH THE AGES:

The American Revolutionary War (1775-1783, Also Known as The American War of Independence) was Initiated in the Wake of the Boston Tea Party, and the Need of the 13 Colonies to be Free of "Taxation Without Representation."

The Colonies Established a Continental Congress, and Declared Independence in 1776, but Fought The British for 8 Years Before Their Coveted Freedom Became an Unopposed Reality.

The Cause of The American Civil War (1861-1865), in the Eyes of Soldiers From Both the Blue and the Gray, was Slavery, Despite Other Factors, such as Sectionalism, Protectionism, and States Rights Issues. (Wikipedia)

750,000 Soldiers Died (10% of All Northern Males, Ages 20-45, and 30% of All White Southern Males, Ages 18-40) in a Battle for Freedom.

Civil Rights Activist, Martin Luther King Jr., Dedicated the Majority of his Adult Life to Fighting For Freedom, Culminating in His "I Have a Dream" Speech on the Steps of the Lincoln Memorial, During the March on Washington, in 1963.

He was Assassinated in 1968, by James Earl Ray, on the Balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, Ultimately Giving His Life for the Freedom He Fought So Hard to Secure.

"I Am the Hurricane Setting Fire to the Forests At Night, When No One Else is Alive or Awake...I Live in My Own Flames, Sometimes Burning Too Bright and Too Wild To Make Things Last, or Handle Myself or Anyone Else, and so I Run. Run Run Run, Far and Wide, Until My Bones Ache and My Lungs Split, and It Feels Good...I Am the Slave and Ruler of My Own Body, and I Wish To Do With It Exactly As I Please."

I enjoyed this post. Even our freedom is not free!

There are degrees of freedom, but we can sure have more than we've got. That's what WA is all about! :)

Really great post Rick, very many thanks for sharing. Here's to freedom for us all :)

I'll second that emotion! :)

My inspiration for the week. Thank you for the effort you put into this. It's a great post!

Thanks so much-It was a time consuming post to write. Glad you liked it! :)

Freedom. Ultimate. Thanks, Kris

Thanks for reading!

So much here Rick... I had to star it and tag it FREE for reference!

Absolutely Free! :)

My boss happens to be a lovely lady too, (me!!) :)

You've got that right, Jude! :)

I will be singing the rest of the night. Good thing my dog doesn't mind it. Thanks Rick

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Could you record that? We need to share happiness...))

You're definitely in a writing mode my friend. Good post, Rick. :)

Thanks, Mike. It was a saga. :)

A lovely and pretty engaging post...
Freedom, the main asset people have had since the Creation.... God could have created us as robots with programmed obedience and love for him. But he created us as beings with the free will. The question arises- how do we use and misuse this gift.
Some people yearn for free rides.Always.
Some pople forget that free cheese can only be in a mouse trap( The Russian proverb)
Some people in desire to achieve their own freedom violate freedom of others.
Love this by Jim Morris:"The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are..."

I like the Russian proverb. I don't like cheese that much! To be what you are, being self-actualized, is an achievement. Thanks for the comments, Vera. :)

I love cheese, almost any kind. Even cheese ice-cream is my favourite...Sounds peculiar, I guess, but in reality it is delicious.Especially with whipped cream. (Need to take extra walk or do some extra excercises after eating it though...)
Was impressed by the lists of songs, films and books... there are so many of these... and some great quotes, too, especially the first one...:)

I like cheese, too, just not out of a mouse trap! Never had cheese ice-cream. :)

It's quite rare, I should admit. Two of my students who extensively travel, taught me to like it.lol Now I have to go to that only shopping- centre where it is on sale at least once a week. Pretty addictive like anything you like... It's French I guess(French cheese in it, for sure)...

Is it strong cheese?

Oh, yeh, it's actually Italian cheese, not French as I thought- somehow recalled its name...:)

Oh, I know gorgonzola. I think it is strong cheese, is it not? :)

Yes, it is..so it's vanilla ice-cream, gorgonzola and I believe there is some secret component there too.So it all works for such an effect that you can't stop...And you can never repeat it as well . It's like with Buffalo wings in South Dakota. They don't seem to hide the recipe. It's on the back of the bag when you buy it. But it' s never the same if you try to do it yourself...:)

I wouldn't even try to make my own cheese ice cream-Mine would probably end up with duck tape or something. I'd try a bite, though, on your recommendation. :)

No, no, no...I was talking about chicken wings in some deadly combination -unbelievably tasty and incredibly spicy, AKA Buffalo wings in the state of South Dakota. They are usually served with icy water in order to quench some kind of a fire in the mouth...But still strongly recommend. As for ice- cream, you are very unlikely to spoil it... you can definitely add up any ingredients....the more outrageous, the better...
Shall we open a quisine corner somewhere here ? lol or, I will rather go to my own kitchen now and make some cheese(cheese again ) omlette... :)

Omelette I could go for. The spicy chicken wings are probably too fiery, though I'm not opposed to all things fiery! You may be the next Julia Child! :)

Again I need to google to figure out if it's a compliment or not... lol:)

Top chef. On TV. Big Star. :)

oh, no... I am a little bit too too spontaneous person for that... Though , in the right mood, I can really cook...:)

I bet you can, Vera! :)

yes, I can.. my best dish is real Russian pancakes - big, thin with red fish, or caviar (quite expensive though), or some jam...Also cabbage soup or tschi( щи) Omlettes, the whole variety of them... What's that? To talk of food at 3 a.m.?:)

Here it is 8PM. Is it 3AM there? You are a super night owl! :)

I am just lucky having a day off tomorrow and having slept at day time today...All the same nightingales are already here...
and yes, I am an owl. My brain works better at this time... :)

Enjoy your night owling! :)

yes, I think I will .. You too...I'll have a nightingale's lullaby.. Good night...:)

Good night. :)

That was a pleasant read before bed. Thanks Rick.

Thanks Tessa. Glad you enjoyed it! :)
