The amazing thing.
About medicine
is that it is an incredible combination of a great many things in perfect balance. It's kind of like a recipe. A pinch of this, a pinch of that and something amazing and sometimes miraculous happens.
Here are the ingredients
You take hundreds of years of scholarship and research.
Combine with state-of-the-art facilities
Add a team of dedicated nurses, whose calling and mission is to care for people who are ill and make a bad situation less bad.
Toss in a host of hundreds on the medical staff who process tests, prepare instruments, take x-rays, ct scans, and a whole bunch of things I haven't a clue about.
Add the talents of a brilliant surgeon whose skill, knowledge and focus are off the charts.
Add a bit of luck that it all comes together
That something special
Even with all of the above, none of it matters much without Grace!
Grace is what brings the knowledge, skill, art and luck together to make the real magic happen. And you never get to pick the combination. Even without the above, with Grace, amazing miracles can still happen with the power of belief and prayer.
Tomorrow morning, in Palm Springs, California, one of the most special people in the world to me, my mother-in-law will be in the hands of these brilliant people for 2 consecutive surgeries. Talk about a Monday! Oy! Not fun. But we know she's in good hands and are thinking positive thoughts.
Thanks to all who have sent good thoughts, wishes and prayers from literally around the world. They are greatly needed and appreciated. The WA family is truly the best. Y'all are one heck of a prayer chain! Bless you all!

We will be waiting for the good news. Some powerful prayers here at WA. I know I loved my mother and father in law probably more than my wife. At least in the end. Take care, my favorite blogger.
Thanks, Mark. Seriously hoping for good news. Our WA family is most certainly the best. So hard to be on the sidelines for this. Appreciate the prayers and the good thoughts more than you know. Hugs from San Antonio!

Christine it is apparent that you have a deep appreciation of life. I have been through that situation with loved ones and to me it seems that you are well prepared with positive thoughts.
Kind thoughts to you.

Thank you so much, Karen! Prayer and positive thoughts. From Texas, that's all I can sadly do for her. But they can do wonders!!
Have a wonderful evening.
