I have transferred my Website to be hosted here at WA but have received notification that my domain name is due for renewal on the original site where I purchased it. Would tha

Karen, Gordon is correct. You transfer your websites separately from the domains. Unless you requested a domain transfer they are still sitting at the old host with the name servers pointed to WA.

It won’t hurt anything to leave them there or you can move them and have them all in one place.

If the domains are due for renewal and you want them at WA now is the time to move them as you will have to pay for one full year at the time of transfer. So if they renew at the old host and you move them you will have to pay another full year on each one.

Laura

Thank you Laura, that explains what I have done. I seem to have moved the website but not the domain so I will sort that out ...cheers

I have 4 or 5 websites hosted elsewhere before I joined WA. When you transfer, you are transferring the Domain, not just website. The webwebsite will be hosted wherever the domain is hosted.

Re renewal, that depends on when it's due to renew, and if you are set for manual or auto renewal. The main thing is yiu do not want to lose the domain name. If they have already informed you that it is due for renewal, then rrenew your domain.

For example, Hostgator will process an auto renewal up to 20 days prior to actual renewal date.

The transfer process can take a few days, depending on who you are currently hosted with.

One thing I learned when transferring.. Be Patient...grin...

Thanks for your reply. It appears that I only transferred the website and not the domain name so I will have to sort that out now.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my query.

You are only transferring the Hosting of the website to WA, Domains remain with the original registrar until transferred over to a new registrar. If your Domain is up for renewal, now would be the time to transfer it over to WA as you would have to pay for a full year when it is transferred

Thank you for you advice, I will follow that up

Normally it is Karen. I'd check with site support. Jim

Thank you Jim. I will check on that .

You need figure this with your registrar. Transfered domains can take up to 7 days. When was it transfered? When is it expiring?

Thank you ...I transferred it some time ago...several months so I will check on that.
