Thank you for all of your replies to the previous ideas, it really is greatly appreciated. I have posted the results for the Business Cards idea, and the Donations idea. I will be posting the results for the Press Releases idea shortly, but t's not too late if you would like to respond to the On-Vehicle Advertising idea, the Voicemail idea, or the Books idea, as I am giving each of these at least 72 hours before publishing the results. If you would like to find a list of all the ideas that have been suggested during this series, you can head on over to Marketing Ideas Research Series. So, next up, let's discuss Joint Ventures!

Joint Ventures

A joint venture could be as simple as exchanging email lists with another company, or the better approach to remain within regulations, piggy back mailings.

The basic idea is to gain access to each others customers.

Some examples:

  • A car dealer could give a gift voucher for a free meal at a local restaurant with a purchase of a car.
  • An accountant could write a letter to his clients endorsing an attorney.
  • A clothing store could place mannequins dressed in the latest pyjamas in a bed & mattress store.

McDonalds sells Coke, whereas Burger King sells Pepsi, are classic joint ventures.

There are endless possibilities with joint ventures.

I think joint ventures are in one of the fastest ways to grow.

I am open to any joint venture ideas you may have.

Creating a group of joint venture partners is very effective in my opinion.

Creating a syndicate of people with a common goal and objective.

Have you ever tried to move a couch by yourself? It’s much easier with two people.

Thank you Brad, and yes, completely agree about the couch scenario :-)

Both Burger King and McDonads serve Coke. KFC and Taco Bell serve Pepsi.

For years and years a local Toyota deal would give a box of country sausage to anybody who bought a Toyota from him. He was the biggest Toyota dealer in the south. I don't know if anybody bought a car for thousands of dollars to get a $20 box of sausage but he spent a fortune on TV ads

Thank you Neil, I might be wrong about Burger King, it's been a few years since I've eaten in one :-) But yes, the principal still applies regarding the JV between the two companies.

With regards to the sausages, he, and his sales staff, probably get free sausages for giving them out, and the sausage company obviously get their name out there :-)

Local shops survive by referring people to other local businesses, or, in some cases, not referring to certain businesses...There is a vetting experience, where reputations are build or lost upon.

As an example, I received a free dinner coupon at a decent restaurant, just for using the auto glass service (windshield replaced). Not sure what the reciprocation is, guess I will find out next week...grin.

Great job you're doing with these, Chrystopher, I wonder, do you have a project that will utilize the information you've learned here?

Rudy

Thank you Rudy and yes, that's a really good example you have there :-)

And yes, I do :-) It's part of the main blog series here for Out of the Box Marketing, where I will then summarise these even further once completed.

I will also be creating a video once completed as well :-)
