Ya if you look at the live chat here at WA...it is full of just plane no value stuff 80% of the time but then there is the other 20%....That is where the value is...so I am thinking that it representative of social media..
I am thinking the the serps give it weight for helping you ranking of web pages/posts but have no hands on experience to prove that...just what I read.
Well I think it's still early to pinpoint exactly the weight social media will carry for rankings. Already we are seeing that sites with high social activity gets ranked quicker and higher but who knows what will happen in the future.
So the trend IS going there but as we said, social media visitors don't spend a lot.! :(
We'll just have to wait and see!
Hey Chris...What do you think about his statement that search will be dead in the next few years?
Not so sure Ronny, I mean social is blowing up pretty fast, but some say social traffic isn't there to spend, they just visit to "waste some time" ! I can not see search dead but I am sure, as have happened before, things will always be changing!

Good speaker. Lots of use of the 'f' word, is distracting, but makes him authentic. Best parts was how important it is to listen, that content and contacts are king and storytelling. Am happy am already doing it. 'Box a Fish'. Thank you for the break. ^_~2004/5/30
This was really something. Should I give up learning on WA and, instead, follow my clients on Twitter and Facebook several hours a day? I've already been getting practice by following you, Chris, and my other followers. However, I must warn you not to expect a Thank You T-shirt. :-)

Heh this is such a pain too. I grew up with this stuff but I always avoided it for one reason or another. I`m going to try out the twitter search idea though.
I have used the twitter idea and had some good results. But as Gary says, you have to hustle on it. 24/7 . You can't do it once a week and expect results... :/
This stuff is really so confusing. All people seem to do is make statements on twitter then everyone else makes lame jokes about what they said. How do you get involved in this? Oh and my account got suspended for overdoing it. Looks like I won`t be able to try again for a few days.
Just go to twitter search and type WITH quotes "how to bla bla" or "where can i find bla bla"
Now if your niche is very competitive (it is BTW) you will find other marketers that are doing the same thing you're trying to do.
Just try targeting long tail low competition keywords and dig deep in the conversations.
You seem to get banned from a lot of social networks, are you sure you are not doing anything you should not be doing? :/
Can`t do twitter till my ban gets lifted. What about google plus? And ya they said I was doing so many tweets they though I was automated.
Google+, like any other social network, will get you results as long as you are active, join topics, circles and communities you like and/or are related to your niche, act natural (not just sending out sales are promos), interact with people, answer questions etc...
Just hustle on it.. Easy. You'll get back what you put out.
