Overtired and Frustrated!

I am so frustrated I'm ready to just walk away and leave it for a day or two. This all went so well at first and then it went to he77 in a handbasket. My home page was a blog roll. It wouldn't take me to the rest of the blog when I clicked [Read More] ... it said Oops page not found. I wrote it all at the same time in the same place. Juneyo helped me get that one straightened out with a static home page but it is not the page that comes up when you click on my web address...you have to click 'Home' to see what I wrote I can't seem to get all of a blog post to show up on the home page.

Then it took 3 days to get my domain name released bc I purchased it with a bank check. Finally domain name is mine and points to my site somewhere out there. I'd better get to writing some content pretty quickly. That's what I've been doing since 8am. It is now nearly 6 pm and I have lost my Privacy Policy that I had already done the find and replace on. Oh it's there somewhere bc you can type it into the search box that appears along with the Oops on that page and it comes right up.

My head is hurting I'm hot and I'm too tired. Today is a Murphy's Law day! Maybe things will be better after a walk and a break.

Sorry for the rant friends! Hope you are having a great and blessed day!

Just take a quick breather then get back on the horse. You have lots of support here. Keep up the great work.

Sometimes it is best to take a step back, clear your head, take a deep breath, and then go back to your work with fresh eyes. It happens to all of us! I wish you all the best, Lisa

Happens to the best of us, I agree. I have had MANY frustrating days over the years and when I got rolling, unfortunately I didn't have a community like WA to help me out when I needed it.

If you ever do get stuck like this, do drop us a question here or let us know what your URL is in a comment, live chat, blog post (or you can even PM me) and we will get you sorted.

Bumps in the road and the odd frustrating moment are the times in which we really learn a lot about ourselves and our business and actually a lot of GOOD can come out of it.

Take some time out CathyJo. Just relax and have faith that when you return to your computer after a break, everything will be clearer and fall into place. I expect that we all have frustrating times with online matters. I certainly have in the past, and still do at times!

Thanks Valerie. I just gave it up tonight for some R&R and I'll get back at it tomorrow!

You're the only one who is setting a time limit on yourself. Actually, all this means is you are so into what you'er doing that it's frustrating not to have everything just fall into place instantly. The learning curve is crazy hard at times, and then you get past a speed bump only to hit another almost instantly. And all this timde, you're becoming more and more addicted because there's this total feeling of accomplishment with every hurdle that you jump over. But over time, you will get it all straightened out. Believe me. Don't beat yourself up. We've all gone through the agony of setting up a website, having your friends tell you it doesn't look the same n their browser as it does in yours, page not found messages, this doesn't work, that doesn't work. Then sudden;y , one day, it all comes together and you find yourself helping others as they encounter this stuff. Walk away for a day or two if you need to. Hang in there. You're doing fine...

Welcome to WA!

Thank you!
You are absolutely right! I wanted this up and running by Friday night. Then I gave myself another day and another and now it should be done but it's not and I can't figure out why. You explained it so eloquently!
I went back in and deleted the page altogether and added a new page and built it all again. I still do not know what I did wrong the first time but it works now and that is what matters.
Thank you so much for your comments!

Relax walk away. and then come back and yes it works. sometimes.

Take a break from it and come back tomorrow refreshed. A lot of times you will find the solution you are looking for right off the bat when doing this. :)

Thanks Mike ... that's what I did. Took the kids to the creek, then came home and fixed it!

Way to go, Cathy Jo!! A stressful problem solved. :)

Tomorrow is another day :)

Thanks Jude!

Take some time away and get your blood pressure back under control. Start your day tomorrow by making a list of things to get sorted out. Organize and ask focused questions.

As for clicking to blank pages, check the URL of the link. Open your page from the post menu and verify that the sending link and the permalink at the top of the post are identical. View the page and copy the link from the correct page. Enter it into the link.

Thanks Labman, I'll try that tomorrow.

I feel your frustration! Definitely walk away, take a break and come back refreshed. Sometimes when you're tired you may be doing things which are getting in your way and you're refreshed you will make less mistakes! Technology as great as it is can be a big pain in the rear end!

That's what I did, just shut it down and walked away.
