Is anyone else getting 500 Internal Server Error for YouTube videos embedded on their website?

Seems all my pages are displaying 500 Internal Server Error.

Best c

I have had this before in the past. Make sure your embed code or URL is correct. Try exiting the page that you are putting your embedded video on and re-loading the page before trying to embed the video again. That should do it.

Just checked all mine and they are working - sorry Cath.

I do remember seeing something about this before though - maybe try readding the embed code to your post...

Thanks Paul ... will do!

I know the recommended number of plugins is 5 or less.

But there are a lot of essentials that are needed e.g.:
- SEO plugin,
- social buttons plugin,
- goog

I think the plugin Q has been answered :-)

Have you checked you site's Details to see why/if it is slow? The most common cause of slowness is large images.

Sorry, YanFellow ... my reply to you was so long ... I turned it into a blog post:

I knew I should gone out... :-)

Off to your blog and will reply there,

:)

Is not a numbers question Cath

The point: you should use as few as possible. BUT, you can have 50 GOOD, professionally coded "lightweight" plugins without affecting negatively your site performance, and you can have 5 plugins that could slow down or even crash your site. What matters is the QUALITY of your plugins.

Also, the reason why WordPress allows you to deactivate plugins instead of directly deleting them is because sometimes you may just want to switch off a plugin temporarily.

If you plan to use that plugin soon, and you fear that deleting the plugin will delete its settings, then you should keep it.

Otherwise, there is really no point in keeping the inactive plugins installed on your website. In fact, they can be quite problematic at times.

is there a way to spot a quality plugin? How can I tell if it's a lightweight plugin?

It's possible a couple of my plugins are not playing nice with each other.

I'm also thinking of switching from AllInOneSEO to Yoast ... i just fear getting a whole new set of headaches

Well, the number of downloads and installs is an important information when you are choosing a new plugin.

The frequency of the available updates is also important. A plugin which hasn't been updated in a year probably isn't a good choice.

Lastly, is highly recommended to read the customer reviews on the download page.

Regarding the size: downloed it and the smaller is the file the better ...

Thank you ... I will vet my plugins and use your points to check against.

You're welcome!

I always deactivate the ones I'm not using and activate when needed as this helps
Vicki

yea same here ... still doesn't seem to help with my site speed though :( ...

Have you checked site plus to see if you are on accelerated or normal speed?

Yes, I'm on Extreme! (choices were Accelerated or Extreme)

I went through all the lessons; followed their advice to the letter; my site is live; addressed all of Google's indexing admonitions ... but am impatient ... when do I expect t

Hey! Hope you are doing ok. One of the easiest ways to start getting ranked is to produce content on a regular basis. If you keep providing Google with content and you also keep sharing that on social media, then you WILL get ranked. Try to post good quality content at least twice per week. Share it on G plus, twitter and Facebook. Rince and repeat. It works and it works pretty fast!

Really appreciate the advice, Andrew. Hate social media but will do it! Thank you!

Hi Cath, Google ranking may need a bit of your patience and dedication, for they consider many factors. What is important is to add content onto your website week in and week out. Write unique content with the recommended length, meta tags, meta description as you wait for the site to mature. Remember as your website matures, Google will trust it more and your articles will start ranking in no time.
So my advice is to have patience and not be in a hurry.
Wish you all the best

Yessir! ... tis a truly exciting process and it's hard to curb one's impatience.

I heard of sites making it on google within weeks of going live. Mine is I think around 3 weeks old but I guess it will be unrealistic of me to expect anything at present.

Will slog on! :)

I had my tags and category pages as NOINDEX but google's giving me error reports as a result.

Can I afford to ignore these errors because I don't want those pages inde

Tags and Category pages make use of your existing posts, they do not create duplicate content.

oh ... so have them indexed? Thought it said somewhere in the training not to index these pages. I'll double-check so that I am clear on my understanding.

Still, I have to resolve the issue somehow with Google and I just found this post which helped me heaps!:
