9 Months On (Part 2) - $1,000+ Monthly Retained Income

I shared the saying: "Money does not grow on trees." with my daughter. Last week she provided me with a very different perspective that I found difficult to dispel.

Zafirah: "What is money made out of, Mummy?"

Me: "Paper."

Zafirah: "Where does paper come from, Mummy?"

Me: "Trees."

Zafirah: "Soooo . . . money DOES come from trees!!!!"

Talk about a paradigm shift. 😀

On Sunday, I shared a blog about my experiences being ranked number one on the 3 major Search Engines. As a result of these rankings, I was engaged by a new Client who described me as a "Google authority" and expressed their admiration for my accomplishments with the online initiatives for my consulting firm.

Yesterday, I met with my new Client's Management Team to discuss the engagement, services, scope of work and fees. Our meeting was set for about 30 minutes. I left 1 hour and 30 minutes later!

To say that it went well would be putting it mildly. I went in with a handbag and left with a basket.

1 Year Engagement

Who does not like consistent income?

I did share that I was transitioning my offline business to online. To do that, my goal is to have a few offline Clients who would be a source of consistent, income to support my 1 to 2 year investment in my online endeavours.

My expectation is that this transition would not happen before the end of 2021. With persistence and dedication, I am going to arrive at that juncture much sooner than planned.

The contract signed yesterday provides for a monthly, guaranteed retainer fee of over 1,000 USD - initially. This is over USD 12,000 for the year.

What makes this even more attractive is that the scope of works will continue to evolve and expand AND, will include working with their other offices across the Caribbean. This is a huge international multi-national company with their Head Office in the Netherlands.

Who would have thought?!

The initial scope will include audits, (including their intranet and website - think WA skills), learning and development for their management team, (more WA skills), reviews of their policies and procedures and strengthening their communication and culture initiatives, (think WA Community).

I will be implementing a website interface to manage the engagement and to provide seamless communication across their network. Of course that will be hosted at WA and will provide an additional online source for monetisation.

Thanks to COVID-19, they have a greater appreciation for the importance of a technological backbone. Jumping on a plane is no longer an option.

My goal is that after working with them for a year, this will become a permanent and innovative way of working and managing their human resources and communication. Of course, I will continue to lead the charge!

It has also given me a new business model that I can structure and market.

Money may not grow on trees. But, if you choose your tree well, remain committed to it, nurture it and support its growth, it will definitely provide you with abundance. So much abundance that you will have more enough to share.

Now that I have blessed with the income I need to expand and innovate my business, I can do so with a certain amount of ease as my financial basket is being filled.
