Ranked Confession

Hello WA Friends,

I need to make a ranked confession. Well not really a confession; perhaps an observation. After posting a few questions in Live Chat, I had another friend PM me and jokingly say, "You're in top 200 - I need to be asking you questions!" Of course I did not get that he was kidding right away but I can be slow on the uptake sometimes.

So my observation is this ---- well the confession is I am not a WA or affiliate marketing pro, I flounder around here as much as the next newbie does. I have a long long way to go on my web design, content, and rankings. I learn much from those in the top 200 who have been here a while and by association (by making it there) I am getting to know them better and learning more each day.

The observation; I could keep being active in this community and remain in the top 200 and really not do much of anything. By not doing I will not be learning. By not learning I will not be an authority and will not be able to teach anyone a thing.

So with the confession and observation I suppose I should share my commitment here to my online business and to this community. I intend to learn everything I can about affiliate marketing and succeeding online with integrity in tact. I believe WA can get me there. I desire to become a subject matter expert so I can, as many in the top ranks do; so I can help anyone who needs help.

To my friend who sent me the PM --- thank you for the redirection.
To everyone who has helped me so far --- thank you for paying forward.
To everyone struggling to learn --- there are answers and it takes time.

I am thankful we have this community to help us along the way.

Kind regards,

Carl

To add to this: In talking to my wife about this post and what prompted it she replied that understanding the algorithms and expectation for ranking here goes a long way towards applying the understanding to the SEO techniques and algorithms on the web. She's a smart cookie. And great partner in life.

If you came here from my Gaining Ground post where I sit at 43 here is the link back. All of this to me is in good fun. Here's that link -- https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...

This certainly applies to me. I look at my ranking and ask "WHY?" How can I be ranked so high when I've only been here a couple of months (literally two months today)? I guess I must be doing something right.

I, too have questions that I am seeking answers for. But I also noticed this: I can actually answer the questions that some people pose.

I think that as long as a person is learning, they will always have questions, and that's not a bad thing. Also, if you're doing the lessons, writing the content, adding affiliate links, you have something to offer. You could not have made it this far without learning something in the process.

We also come into this arena with some foreknowledge and life experience that we can use here that will help others as well. Some may be good at goal planning, some may be good at visualization and that certainly helps, especially in regards to goals. Perhaps the algorithm has picked up something in me that I brought here. Even sheer determination is contagious.

Be proud of where you are at, but don't get so caught up in the rankings here that you forget what you are here for in the first place: To build a business. You see, if all you so is concentrate on the ranking, then all you are doing is socializing. Socializing is one good way to advertise your business, but if you don't have a business to advertise, you are serving no purpose to anyone or anything besides your ego.

I don't mean to imply that you are doing this. However, I do see some people doing this and it is a bit aggravating, because they post all the time, but really don't say anything at all.

You, Carl, are doing great! I always enjoy your posts.

Nice post and good points to make! I feel the same!

I think your situation applies to many in the top 200....certainly to myself. WA ranking, in my opinion, simply means you are engaged....learning from others and sharing what you learned with others...no matter where you are in terms of reaching your goals. As long as the advice and comments are helpful and not misleading. The experience members become known...through their training and authoritative advice and direction. It's all good.

Hi Carl,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the ranking system. I too am not an expert on affiliate marketing in no way, shape or form. Whenever possible, I try to answer question from members that I am certain about and if not, I refer them to other members who I consider to be experts. This community is such a helpful one, learning and sharing each and every day.

Thanks Carl, I feel the same way about the community and what it has to offer.

Just stay engaged with the community to encourage others and chase your dream with fierceness. :-)

Carl, I've had these same thoughts myself man.

What you say makes a lot of sense.

We all wrestle with the ranking thing Carl until we wise up out of it!
