Is it a good idea to get some content ready to publish before website set up? Is a new website that has a couple of posts posted immediately more effective for google rankings?
If you follow the training here and regularly create new content, you do not have to worry about having several posts on your site before going live with it.
Google will not rank you immediately no matter what, as you first need to earn that trust. So if you just follow the steps in the training here and add posts regularly you will be fine.

The algorithms constantly change but a good rule of thumb is to do constant daily additions to your site.
The reason for this is that you want the search robots to come to your site more often. When this happens your content gets indexed faster.
So at first it goes slow but if the robot detects that new content is being added almost every day it will start to visit your site every day if you add more than one article a day you may find that it visits many times a day.
It is ideal if you can get it to visit daily and your content gets indexed almost immediately.

For a new website, it's unlikely that any kind of publishing strategy will sway rankings one way or the other. Consistency is the main thing that matters, so try to publish at least a few times per week so Google keeps visiting your website to see you are adding fresh content. That's the best way to do it!
Thanks Nathaniell. I'm working around my full time job at the moment so writing is taking some time. I was trying to figure out if I'm better off writing a few posts before setting up a website so I have a couple of posts ready to publish to make sure I have publishing consistency.
You can absolutely do that, but it's equally good to just set up the website, then publish whenever you have time and can fit it into your schedule. THere's nothing wrong with publishing one by one as you are learning.
That's the beauty of running an online business. You aren't paying rent to a brick and mortar shop, so there's no rush (other than your own desire) to get things rolling.

I am just starting out and am considering the longevity of my niche. I have a particular niche in mind that I have thought up based on the idea that it should not be too wide.
If the topics are related, I'd consider just rolling them up into one website. It doesn't make sense to have a website about vegan recipes AND a website about vegan fashion. If you want to talk about similar topics, just make one site, and go broader.
However, if they are unrelated, you should make them different websites. A general site about "all my hobbies" is unfocused, and hard to find a specific audience for!
