OK, awesome. You now have your niche, in other words, the direction for your brand & business. That is great and don't worry about this not being "perfectly clear" at this point, as you move forward the pieces of the puzzle are going to come together.

Starting with a big piece today, your website. We are going to be taking our niche idea and turning it into a tangible business starting with your website.

Building a Website Ain't Scary, It's FUN!

Building a website sounds like a "scary" process, but fortunately you have access to the most advanced, yet simplistic website platform in the world here at Wealthy Affiliate. We pride ourselves as a technology company here at Wealthy Affiliate and we are the industry leaders in the website development space.

I am not going to toot our horn any longer, I would rather you experience the website builder and platform for itself. The first step today is going to be building your website, which will literally take you less than 30 seconds.

Click the SiteBuilder link

within the menu, and you are going to be ready to rock here (and complete the next task).

Below I have included a "Building Your Website in Under 30 Seconds" video walking you through the Website Platform (also known as SiteRubix) here at WA and showing you how quickly and efficiently you can build a website here at Wealthy Affiliate.

Task 1: Build Your Website

Your website is your foundation of your business. It is where all of your traffic is ultimately going to come to, where you are going to build brand and trust within the industry, and where you can promote products/services and generate $$$!

The SiteBuilder platform here at WA is the most simplistic, yet advanced in the industry. It is going to take less than 30 seconds to get a fully operational, profit ready Wordpress website up and running online.

There are 4 steps in the website build process, that I am going to walk you through here. To access the SiteBuilder and EVERYTHING related to your website, you will simply click the light blue "SiteRubix" button in the main menu.

Step 1: Choose the Kind of Website

There are really TWO options here, on a FREE website or on your OWN domain. Ideally, you will have your own domain, but that can come with time.

You can "register" your very own domains right within Wealthy Affiliate using our state of the art SiteDomains platform, which will allow you to instantly set-up your own domain for your own use.

If you are just starting out as a Starter member, you will be building a website on the .siterubix.com domain, which is a completely free website. You can build and host your own FREE website as a Starter.

As a Premium member, you can build and host up to 10 websites (including websites on your own domains). As a Premium Plus+ member, you can build and host up to 50 websites (including websites on your own domains). That is more than adequate to drive many multi-million dollar businesses over time and our hosting platform is industry leading in terms of speed, security, and reliability...all critical factors to running a successful online business.

For the sake of this training, we are going to be choosing "On a free domain".

Do know that within the Premium membership, you can easily MOVE a free .siterubix.com button to a registered domain (one you own) using the "Premium Only" MOVE feature. So by all means start off with a free website and then down the road you can easily move it to your own domain.

Step 2: Choose a Domain

Remember last lesson when I chose my "niche". In this step, I am going to be choosing a name for my website and placing it in the "domain name" field. This is because this will be my website URL and my brand moving forward.

As you can see below, I have added my brand "how to lose belly fat today" into the domain field.

When you type in your domain, it will let you know if it is available or not. In my case it was, but if your first choice is not available simply do another search until you find a domain name that works for you.

You cannot put spaces in your domain name, hence why my domain is "howtolosebellyfattoday".

Step 3: Choose a Website Name

The name of your website should match your domain, but it just needs to be grammatically correct (with proper spacing). You can see below my example of this:

Domain: basketballskillsanddrills.siterubix.com

Title: Basketball Skills and Drills

It is as simple as that. Don't overthink this step, your title will be the same as your domain.

Step 4: Choose a Design

The last step is choosing a "look" for your theme. As a Starter member you will have access to ONE theme that has been hand picked for quality, speed, security, and overall theme design.

As a Premium Member though you will have access to over 4,134 designs (as shown below) or your website and there are always new designs being added to this daily. These are referred to as "Themes".

Choose a design that you like.

Click on the design you like, and then you will be able to build your site.

SiteRubix, a Next Level Website and Hosting Platform.

You are going to notice that there are many other website features allocated within the SiteRubix menu. I don't want to eat up too much of your time here, but it is important that you understand the incredible benefits of the SiteRubix platform.

Alright, I'm one of those over-anayltical people who has a problem deciding, because once I decide, I usually overcommit. 😂 I'm trying to think of a niche. I have a background in the Automotive field, and although I don't want to work in the field for a living, cars are still my favorite hobby. (I own three, and that's nowhere near enough.) 😅 Any suggestions on a niche?

I'm leaning towards doing something with brakes for a few reasons. 1) I've done thousands of brake jobs, and am very comfortable and knowledgeable in this area. 2) I feel like basic brake jobs are one of those jobs that people do themselves to try to save money. (But I've seen plenty of hilarious mistakes.) 😖😅 3) From personal experience, there are certain brands that are superior to others, and plenty that should just be avoided.

I'm open to ideas. Shoot away! 🙂

Hey Konstantin,

I think brakes are a great niche to get into!
It's not too broad and there is enough to write about within the niche.

U answered your own question in regards to recommending good quality brakes. You are the go to man guru for brakes.

I did some work for Ferodo brakes many years ago. If I was into brakes or stopping cars generally I would love to read more about what they are made of, how they make them and test them. What makes a brake better for town use and another for racing cars. Just a thought, haven't decided on my niche yet.

My mind is freezing as I try to think of my niche. I'm good at soo many things that it is hard for me to focus on just one. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. My question is, how did you find and focus on your first niche?

hey hi Blake!

Excellent question and one that many, many before you have asked about here...

Hope you're enjoying the training as it is helpful to keep at it as it will also assist in fine-tuning your selected first niche to work on...

it's best to choose your first niche on a very focused topic that you know well or experienced in so that you can write in-depth, deeply and focused to mount your authority in it in engaging your intended audience and then broaden out to scale your biz to fruition .... otherwise, you'd be doing a lot of research just learning the topic ...

Kyle have presented super suggestions:

"the website you create can be about anything that you want. The core training is going to help you choose a niche. A niche can honestly be anything, what are you passionate about? What are you interested in?

When deciding on a niche and trying to narrow down to a more specific niche, I recommend you ask yourself the following question:

I want to help people that ______________.

Fill in the blank and you are going to be much closer to a specific audience."

All the very best to you for every Success ... :)

I picked the thing I am most passionate about right now (I am also brand new and just starting the lessons), and that would be anything to do with PC (computers). There are a ton of other things I love that are coming to mind, but this one in particular is burning a whole in the image of my mind and I just have this need to go hard with it. That's how I got my answer, just listened to the traffic in my head and picked the heaviest traffic.

I feel you. I can think of many things I'm good at too. I remembered that we can have more than 1 website when we become premium members, so that's good. Works for me as a person who is multi passionate.

I probably won't be able to respond to every discussion, but I just want you all to know that I appreciate you.

If I'm following you correctly ... anyone can visit your website (i.e. they can find your website online and view it) but only you can log in as the administrator to make changes to the site and publish new content to it. So in that aspect, no difference between a site here at WA and anywhere else.
