I sometimes wonder if I'm on the right path.
I got into a fight with my fiance after I had mentioned my new site here on WA. Just earlier a friend of mine doubted me as being capable of being a subject matter expert on my niche. (My other friend who is following me every step of the way which includes my streaming adventures tell me this friend is rather jealous that I had already realized that whatever I write for our collaborative website would be held back by that website we contribute on.)
Well, all I can see that these are just obstacles and I'm just as determined to prove 'em all wrong.
I love my fiance, but I guess he is trying to find all the bad stuff. The dirt just to convince me that WA is scamming me. I can't blame him, we're both very jaded when it comes to anything like this and he wants what's best for me. Maybe someone can help me convince him that this is such an awesome community? I've lent him my account but he's still scouring for dirt and he's telling me to back up my website and pull out. I know my gut; if something is dancing on my mind for a few days, it's rarely wrong!
It's really up to me to follow up and I know if I do get at it, I'm usually happier as a result. The last few days I was in a slump because of it. I wanted to write another article beyond my weekly two. (Mostly because I know if I write more, the more content I bring out = another step to success)
Anyway, thanks for listening to me rant. I should really stop trying to optimize page speed and actually write stuff.
EDIT: I noticed I also fail at image placement, but it's actually quite fitting how it is right now. I'll leave it like that.

Its a shame we don't support our closest family, especially our spouses.
You are right, if it feels right for you, then there is no harm in the power of knowledge anyways. We spend more money in life on much more frivolous things.
This could turn into your reality, then he will enjoy the fruits of the labours and you can savour the good ole I told you so when it is due.
Thanks for sharing!
I feel like this is extremely common. One time I bought into a system involving PLR that cost me $2000. I had no idea what I was supposed to do with it but was sold this membership that was "priceless" and an endless way to riches. Well you can imagine how angry my wife was when I ended up failing miserably and losing $200 in paid leads and $50/mo for three months of having a merchant account so I could ring up credit card transactions (which I had none of.)
Fast forward 4 years, I started building affiliate websites. She doubted me again (I can't really blame her. She was concerned it was going to be another waste of money.) I joined an affiliate training program which is closed now but I learned a lot and started making money with Adsense and other vendors. Pretty soon, I was making sites that each generated between $50 - $250/mo each. My wife stopped criticizing me at this point and then she ended up getting involved. I built a video course showing my exact method and left it with her while I deployed in the Navy. When I came back 6 months later, she had 5 new sites, 4 of which were making consistent money.
Well, I can tell you that I learned a lot in that other community but it was only a fraction of the value that's here. If you keep yourself motivated, you'll start to succeed and when that happens, they'll start to watch and be amazed.
Sorry for the long reply but this is a huge issue for me. I'll leave you with what I always told myself when I got discouraged. "Other people are making money online. I'm just as smart as any of them so there's no reason, I can't do it too!"
Oh wow, you're in the Navy too? Neato.
I'm at the point in my career if I'm heading in the right direction. Not sure if I want to continue at this point. I joined this so I can learn a new skill for when I leave.
Hi Maricar. There will always be doubters in your life. Yes, there are a lot of scammers out there, but WA isn't one of them. This is your life and you need to make your own decisions. My father told me many years ago (when I was young, and that is a long time ago) that 'you are who you hang around with'. In other words, if you hang around negative people long enough, you will become negative. If your circle of friends includes successful affiliate marketeers, there's a good chance you will become successful. Jim
Wealthy Affiliate has changed my life and if anyone tells you differently it is because they fear you will grow beyond them. This happens a lot when people are insecure within themselves and everyone will see how awesome you will become and I wish you loads of learning and of course hard work to achieve all the results you need to become successful
Go well and be awesome
Vicki
You sound pretty smart and I'm sure you know by now if it is a scam or not; so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Redirect his energies toward writing articles on how to detect a scam and then make a new site that proves WA or the moon landings aren't a scam... lol
But seriously, just today my counselor (yeah I need one) said that it is VERY HARD for an entrepreneur to be married... Unless you just take them for the ride. Now I know after 23 years and two twenty years old sons. hmmm
Anyway - keep plugging away! Full steam ahead!
Will
Hahaha, I usually avoid writing those kinds of articles, but it does give me an idea about how much I don't like a certain streaming service. xD That's another post.
But that's actually kind of concerning. I do have to talk to him; we very much want to be together!
Hey Maricar, Wealthy Affiliates is everything you want it to be :) The tutorials are amazing and the community is super helpful - I joined a while ago and have no regrets, everything I want is here, and you can probably help someone else too, that's what the community is all about. cheers!
I can understand how your fiance must feel but take it from me. I've been through many scams! THIS is NOT one of them!
This is a business and requires hard work. I'm still building after two years. Two things I have hanging on my wall are:
You never know how close you are, never give up on your dreams!
I cut this out from a story that Kyle was writing:
"The moral of the story is never stop writing content. Kyle was right!"
Hope this helps! After all winners don't quit and quitters don't win!
Just my thoughts...
Rob :-)
Yeah, I agree. I'm also implementing a "Just try it method."
I don't have a webcam yet, but I might as well propose a video interview to guest post to his new website for a Youtuber I'm following. Maybe he can give me a backlink in return!
I'm sorry you have been facing some challenges. I am comfortable being able to tell you that WA is not a scam. Yet, it sounds like there are tons of scams out there. I can see why your fiance would be worried about your getting scammed.
In addition, it is very common for people to try to discourage their friends and family from starting a new business. In part is their fear of failure. You will have to learn how to politely ignore peoples discouraging comments. Plan to work hard and prove them wrong.
It sounds like you love to write, so that will help you as you build your website.
p.s. Welcome to WA.
Hey thanks for responding.
I actually had a hard time trying to find posts telling me that it IS a scam! That usually gives me red flags all over. The ones that I do find reflect that WA is like a cult; once you're in, you're in for life. (well at least until you decide to stop paying.)
Question is now is it like Scientology or not? :P
I kid. I know a lot of people here work their butts off to get where they're at. And the ones who aren't around anymore; well, I guess their mindset didn't jive with that reality.
A cult? How funny.
I suppose those of us that like to learn and to be motivated by aspiring entrepreneurs that understand the challenges and excitements we go through like to stick around. I have been here two years. Granted, I see value in the web hosting and site comments features also.
I saw a lot of value in the courses itself. If I wanted to find valuable hosting, I would've went somewhere. But the feedback and the comments are so helpful! I was actually surprised that my latest post got indexed really quickly too.
Keep the faith; the larger the obstacles, I've often found the greater the reward coming at the end - you are in a very safe environment and no scam here...have experienced many; this site saved my life during a real scramble for a new career. You will be more than fine - Blessings!
I'm in no rush, I have a stash of cash for the just in case moments and if I do want to get out of the navy life, I have resources. (Essentially, F U money.... Pardon my French.)
You're absolutely right. Thanks. :D

Ahoy CaptMurasa,
Looks like you are at one of those crossroads that we all encounter on our life's journey.
It can be challenging, when we are searching for direction, not knowing if we should keep on the same course or perhaps look in other directions.
A lot of folks that look at WA are looking for the trap door that leads to scam central.
The thing is that here in WA we get access to an in-depth knowledge base, training which if followed allows us to create an online presence via the creation of a website.
The thing that separates WA from similar platforms is that we also get the resources, to create and host that website.
It is a nurturing and safe environment, where folks can explore and develop to their fullest potential.
The online industry does have a bad name and from what you have said your Fiance is looking out for you, at some point we have to look out for ourselves and take the best course of action for ourselves.
One of the defining points about WA is the wonderfully supportive community that has evolved around the platform.
You may feel like you are on your own, you have a whole team behind you that sincerely wants you to succeed.
If you get stuck just reach out help is always close.
Best wishes.
Alex.
