Procrastination

Procrastination is defined by Wikipedia as, the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished. It could be further stated as a habitual/intentional delay of starting or finishing a task despite its negative consequences.

Today, I want to admit I have procrastinated in the last couple of months here at WA. I disagree with the definition some because I have not purposely avoided working here in WA, rather other daily tasks included work and family obligatoins have interferred.

The struggle is how to place my mind back in the Wealthy Affiliate ring and focus on "Just Doing IT". I'm going to start by meeting some other members and reading other posts. I'm sure there will be motiviation there to get me going again.

Good luck to everyone and consider me BACK!

Cal, I am a chief of procrastination, family, friends, church activities and four grand-kids getting married this year have distracted me big time in the pursuit of my WA goals. Getting back on track of completing the training has also been sidetracked by immersing myself to deeply in the Social Aspect of WA. One of the most critical needs of being successful in our quest for financial security, with WA seems to be getting our website up and running, and that means we need to follow and complete the training sessions that will get that accomplished. Be social and enjoy the WA Community but, continue completing the training.

I too am guilty of commenting on posts and making a point to follow folks. I agree we got to get this training finished.

Whew, Calvin, it is very easy for things to come up and drag us away from WA and the work we need to do to achieve our goals.
But you are baaaack!
Let's get going!

I totally understand what you're saying Calvin. The time I'm able to spend working on WA is also limited and STILL I find myself falling behind in my housework & paying the right amount of attention to my husband and friends. Even my cat feels a bit neglected I think. And now on level 4, I find out we're also supposed to go on social media everyday.
If I didn't "Just Do It", I'd be paralyzingly overwhelmed. :-]

Hi Calvin,
Welcome back! I daily fight that procrastination battle.

I win sometimes and sometimes I don't. The truth of it is to be successful in anything in life, the procrastination battle should be won the vast majority of the time.

Thanks for sharing.

Procrastinate tomorrow!

Bill

I like it....procrastinate tomorrow instead of I'll do it tomorrow.

Welcome Back Calvin glad to read your back in the game and off the sidelines, I am looking forward to read your future posts

Welcome back Calvin. It sounds like you have been hanging out with that old friend, or should it be fiend, of mine. His name is procrastination.

Ah, you got distracted by that "shiny object" I refer to as life. I've been with WA 9 years, and I've fallen off the wagon many times. This year is the first year I am truly putting the effort in and I'm starting to see results. Welcome back!

Yes, that shiny object is blinding sometimes....you would think by age 58 I would recognize the symptoms before they hit.

Procrastination! My nemesis. I find myself procrastinating when I don’t want to do a certain task - when a task seems daunting or unpleasant.

I have daily to-do lists (helps with my anxiety). Many of those items on that list get pushed back either due to time or sometimes because they are just too daunting to tackle. BUT I find that when those items FINALLY get checked off my list it gives me a huge sense of accomplishement and relief.

“Stop making excuses for why you can’t get it done and start focusing on all the reasons why you must make it happen”

I realized I waist a lot of time on mindless entertainment; watching tv or checking out what's happening on Facebook, and these bits of time steal from what is available to working towards my goals on WA. I have to admit I have gotten better at taking what spare time I have each day and focusing on goals. That is one way I have found to keep moving forward instead of procrastinating my life away. Think of your efforts in developing your particular niche as steps in a journey. Take one step today and strive to keep moving forward each day. It is like a habit, they take time to develop but once developed you don't feel right unless you do what is normal for you... Just thinking.

Good advice....it's like exercise for me....when I don't do it I feel guilty. That's how I need to approach WA.

The thief of time indeed!
