The Cowboy's Code of Conduct

Ever since I was a little girl I've loved cowboys. One of my earliest memories was when I was three years old and my parents brought home our first TV set. It wasn't long before I was watching The Lone Ranger (my favorite) and Roy Rogers. When people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said "a cowboy." Never mind that I was a girl, I still wanted to be more like Roy than Dale.

As I got older westerns were still my favorite TV shows. Fortunately there were plenty to choose from back then. My first real crush was Clint Eastwood on Rawhide.

Then we moved on to Gunsmoke and Bonanza (still my favorite to watch in rerums). One of my first boyfriends even looked sort of like Adam Cartwright...or at least I thought so!

Sadly, those halcyon days of the Western are mostly long gone. But several years ago I found a new Western crush, Walt Longmire. If you haven't seen the show, I recommend checking it out. It's available on Netflix and the new season starts in September (can't wait). It's a modern day western that takes place in Wyoming. Even though the leading man, Robert Taylor, is Australian, you would never know it. He does an excellent job of playing a lawman in the West of today.

I suppose I'm giving away my age by telling you all this stuff, but my point is the following poster which pretty much fits in any facet of life and with our Wealthy Affiliate business as well. And yes, I still love cowboys.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cowboy Code of Conduct has great rules to live by. I've always loved Cowboys too...I'll be on the look-out for the Netflicks series. Thanks Carol!

Great post-Carol

It would do us all good to follow this code of conduct. I miss the days of Nellie Belle !

I do remember also when The Lone Ranger was on the radio !

Now I AM showing my age!

All the best,

Steve

Thanks for the like , Steve.
According to my lessons, in Course 2, lessons, 8, and 9 I have to start writing things and posting here and on my site.

Wish me luck.

The old days were great. thanks, great post.
If you went to my ranch in Wyoming you would still see cowboys.
the bad part is, there was only 1 street light on the main street. Now as of 2 years ago, there are 4 street lights. and in 20 years from now, I am getting worried about growth and changes.

You and I are about the same age and I loved those shows. There really was a code of conduct back then and good always triumphs. Get code of conduct to live by.

Hi, Carol.
I share your past and love for 'Westerns.'
I remember when dad brought home our first 'Black & White' TV back in the early sixties. We were in England at the time. I used to guard it with my life wearing my cowboy hat and my six-shooter at my side.

Thank you for bringing back some very fond memories.

Bonanza was 'awesome'. The 'Rifleman was unique.' And what can you say further about Clint Eastwood?

'Longmire' is a welcome addition, but it is no longer the foundation of 'Cowboy' VS 'Indian' that has been stereotyped in the past.

'White hat' thwarting the efforts of 'black hat' as I see it.

I'd like for you to accept this comment as an inclusion in a happy way to your works in reference to 'The day that Changed Everything.'

I am blessed.

Thank you Carol.

Paul.

That's it?

Eastwood and Landon are the coolest. I still watch "Little House on the Prairie".
