A Lifeline
It's (odd) funny how one's plans for life take detours, or downright fall down the cliff. My dreams since being a child had been to be a farmer. Of all things to read here, huh. Then it happened. My husband and I bought ten acres where we had a large garden, a fruit orchard, and luscious blackberries and raspberries and livestock.
But after twelve years he and I had to call it quits. He was a great guy. All Italian. Me? Irish redhead. That, my friends, was a fiery combo. My daughter, Bird, moved in to be my helper/partner for the farm. But farming wasn't her forte`. She decided to move to Oregon, get a part-time job while going back to college for computer graphics.
Back on the farm......I still needed help since I'm on oxygen 24/7 from an auto-immune disease like Lupus, have severe rheumatoid, osteoarthritis and connective tissue arthritis. As if one type wasn't enough! LOL Walking is a major effort due to the peripheral neuropathy (can't feel my feet). Plus it won't be long before dialysis is in my future from advanced diabetes.
So I'm on this major quest. To save my farm. I want to leave a legacy for both my daughters. Something worthwhile to hand down so that my many grandchildren will be able to come here, play in the creek, ride horses, milk the goats, chase the chickies around the pasture, and consume healthy food from an 'as local as you can get' garden.
In my quest, I looked for online ways to make money. My problem was I believed in the goodness of people. I was trusting, naive. Vulnerable even. They spotted me as soon as I signed up; One place said all I had to do was pick 4 offers and $40 would be put in my PayPal account. Easy peasy! I signed up for my four. No $40. I contacted the website. No response. No phone number listed. Finally I got a form letter. They wanted my money and more money. What was this???
I had to pay my Verizon bill but for some reason my credit card was denied. What? I have excellent credit! One of the offers (FreeCreditScore.com) told me so. I rated 777. Seems there were some suspicious charges on my card that they denied (fortunately!). So with the help of their Fraud Department, I cancelled that card and they reissued me a new one.
Still believing in humanity's goodness, I signed up with another hyped-up website to make money online. Same story, different credit card. Another card bit the dust. But my situation had not changed. My income was still a meager social security check that barely paid my electric bill. This time I remembered there was help bigger than me or anything I could control. I prayed. Which I should have done in the first place.
God put His hand over my mouse and led me to Wealthy Affiliate. Now I'm HOME. I know. It sounds dorky. Especially to those who are non-believers. I'm not here to preach. But it worked for me and I am so grateful for this experience and signing up yesterday.
I now eat, breathe, sleep, dream WA. It has possessed me like no other endeavor, even my farm. Now there is hope to save my farm from......bankruptcy? having to sell it? abandoning my dream? No way. It will live on. It will improve and grow, thanks to WA.
Because of WA I have kept my faith in the goodness of people. For a while there I was wondering. When one loses trust, it's a very empty feeling. But I have my inspiration back. I know things will be fabulous for the future.

It's terrible how these scam artists do this to good people like you, I don't know how they sleep at night. I know WA has been an answer to my prayers too and I'm sure many others here feel the same way. It certainly has shed a new light on life.
You have such a great attitude, although you're going through so many things. It will carry you far, so keep up the good work. If you ever need any help, just ask and I'll try to help if I can.

Hi Sherry, thanks for the kind uplifting words, right when I need them....;) I love horses too......even thinking about getting one for when I'm feeling 'less than up.' Something about ;the outside of a horse that does something great for the insides of a person' as they say.....;)
That's a great saying. Horses are very inspiring to me also, such beautiful free spirited animals. When I was growing up, my grandparents lived right next door, so they enjoyed watching our horses too, and feeding them goodies of course.
I miss having horses around and it's always been in the back of my mind that someday I'll get another one or two, maybe three... :)

Very nice blog --one lesson at a time --put the blinder on --don't hurry and ask for that help as soon as you feel I am stuck. We all get stuck ---Not asking for help cost me a lot of time.
You have been through much, but you will never be alone anymore as long as your at WA.

But they are being found out about and the best place for them are behind bars.Glad to see your not letting these people get the best of you because there really are good people still in this world.
