I was pumped about the Travel Agency, but you all made some very good points. I will think it through a lot more.
I am keeping it on my list I like the idea and if I process I will go the route of aggregating sales deals.
Thanks for all the comments. It really helps you guys are amazing.
Terry, are these ideas you're blogging about for you or are you making suggestions for others? If you don't have the experience, interest, or knowledge in travel, then the niche is not worth pursuing. If you DO, then for it.
The ideas are for all us... who ever stumbles across this lonely blog it may spark an idea in them.
In the mean time, I get to search the web for odd and interesting ways to make money from home.
Good idea, but you'll be buried in competition. Go for it. Why not? Maybe you can come up with a unique angle?
With all of the travel discount sites out there, not to mention review site like TripAdvisor, which I think you can also book through, thus may be a tough one. I think it would do better if you make it highly targeted, to a specific area and/or specific kind of travel.
Yes, but how are you going to get enough traffic considering the rankings those big sites have.
No just read my original response and what CARAID is saying. You need to make it REALLY targeted.

I personally think travel is still perfectly doable, but you would really have to "niche it down" (Is that a phrase)
Any way travel for certain specialist groups, people who have specific types of conditions that sort of thing. People who fall into this bracket are often very nervous about travelling or seeking advice at their local travel agent.
Not all travel issues are necessarily mobility related either.
Agree totally, because there is a lot of corporate competition and they have the resources to use multiple contributors than just a single blogger. I concentrate on one area -- how to get around -- and stay away from the "best places to eat," "what to do in February" type of thing.
I agree, I would personally concentrate on destinations, How to get there, accommodation types, local attractions. If you started to cover restaurants, what's on according to the calendar etc. etc.your would need a dedicated team behind you and a not inconsiderable budget.
Generally speaking the way to deal with corporate competition is to find your own unique angle or service.
Not everyone wants to by their burger as McDonalds!
