Typical Sunday
A typical Sunday morning here! Had breakfast with Mom and friends from church at Denny's. Yup, the one meal I don't cook! I try to eat healthy but must have biscuits & gravy, side order of sausages (yes, pork), two poached eggs and never ending supply of coffee! Sweet!
Come home, let the pup out of his kennel (destructive critter or he wouldn't be there when I leave, working on that). Give him his morning cup of regular hard dog food (grain free!), check water dishes (yes, he has two!).
Check the cat, again. Food filled? Yes. Water filled? Yes. Litter box cleaned? Check! Where is the little devil? In her spot in the cabinet above the bed.
Take the pup for a walk! First, snacks? Check! Baggie? Check! Clicker? Check! Toy? Check! Okay, now put the harness on him (doesn't choke!). He stands there very patiently, usually. Out the door! Buddy literally prances most of the way to the little dog park. Unless, he sees a bird, lizards, etc. Then he wants to chase. My poor shoulder.
At the dog park, chasing lizards and birds is fun! My poor shoulder prefers it this way. No leash! Plays tug of war with new toy. Chases another bird. Oh look! A lizard! Jump, run, pounce! Missed it.
Back home. Give the dog some soft dog food (once a day). Check cat again. Still hiding. Check on dog. Sneaky pup took the bowl to the couch. Silly dog, it's not a toy.
Time to work.

Love it!! I have 5 pups so I have a food dispenser and they can eat anytime they like. It's just more time effective for me. Then I give them a bowl after dinner which includes the nights leftovers. Water is a whole nuther ball game lol. I used to have an auto water dish (which I totally loved) but I haven't installed it here, yet so I spend a lot of time rinsing and filling water dishes :( ...a lot of time.
Buddy gets a cup of Pure Balance hard dog food in the morning. A single serving of Pure Balance soft dog food in the evening, except Sundays! A few snacks between, usually leash training.
Baby Girl gets a small bowlful of Pure Balance hard cat food each night. Night time critter! In the morning a single serving of Pure Balance soft cat food before she hides/naps for the day.
Oh lovely!
Our dog & cat routine is strangely similar to yours. Two bowls of water for him. Hard food in the morning, soft food in the eve. Except that we don't have lizards but our dog loves chasing squirrels.
I miss Denny's - I used to love it in my teenage days (back in Japan)
Lots of lizards here. Birds too. Buddy tries to chase flying insects (bumblebees, wasps, etc) but I tell him 'leave it'. Usually, runs around the dog park a few times after I say that.
I usually give Buddy soft food in the evening but Sundays he is in the kennel a little longer so I give it to him earlier.
We used to go to Denny's with Dad when he came out to visit.
A nut!
Seriously, he is a Blue Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog mix. His papers say Queensland Heeler/Australian Cattle Dog. A friend says he is a Blue Heeler because of his color and markings. So many opinions.
He's on the small side. Weighs about 20-22 pounds.
When I first got him back in February you could see his hip bones he was so skinny. The vet said he was healthy just needed a little more weight and a bath. He is now at the right weight for his size and clean.
Another person said he looked like he was part Australian Shepherd. Another Aussie breed! So, from all information, I am the proud owner of an Australian mix dog.
He is a good dog, turning into a great pup! They say he is fully grown. This is good because I can pick him up when I need too.
Ah, so he's quite small. Looks big in the photos. Our Henry's Jack Russell, only weighs 15-16 pounds. Jack Russell doesn't need bath (they don't get too smelly lol, they hate water too). I give him a shower once a month or so.
Sounds like Buddy's happy well-looked after by you :-)
When Buddy stands next to me his head is above my knees. He hates water too. He won't get into the kiddie pool to get his toy at a relatives house. He gets a bath about once a month or 6 weeks, depending. Loves mud!
Got a new tug rope toy for him this morning, $2.49. Destroyed!
Yes, I let him play in the mud in the tree wells. So, sometimes there are muddy paw prints on my floor. He likes storms too. Wants to go outside during storms.
That's wild, Henry loves mud too, rolls himself on a fox poo in the park. But he's not that keen on bad weather. Does he run to get a ball/stick too?
Yes, he loves to play fetch. The weird part is that he doesn't really drop the ball/stick on command. He likes to drop it between his table (spot next to the desk) and the desk. Then I have to reach in between them to get it or under the little table.
At the park, he will pick up a twig or something else. I say it 'leave it' and he runs so I can't grab whatever is in his mouth. The little brat.
What a funny little pup, he keeps you busy. Must be so cute! As long as the cat's not jealous!
Buddy is funny. Because of him, I take breaks regularly. Everyone that has met him thinks he is adorable or cute.
Oh yes, the cat. Baby Girl doesn't like Buddy. Nope, not at all. When she is laying on the bedroom floor, she spends her time glaring at him or napping. I keep the bedroom door open now so she has to get used to seeing him. Slowly getting there, at a snails pace.
It'll be nice if she learns to get on with him. Henry and Tiny our cat wrestle each other and sleep together on our bed...
I just hope she will at least tolerate him enough so that Buddy can at least walk up to her without fear of getting swiped or hissed at. Buddy whines when he sees her. He wants to be friends.
I sleep in the front room on the couch. I do this to try to get Baby Girl to come out of the bedroom. She is coming out for short periods. Sometimes Buddy is allowed to have a night out of the kennel. Then he snoozes on the couch.
This is a terrific chronology Brendie!
If you do this every day...........you have a book to publish!
Have a great day!
PS Agree totally on the breakfast!
Steve
That's only the first couple hours on Sundays. The rest of the mornings it is similar but I make my own breakfast. And it starts earlier.
A book? Title: The Diary of a Pet Servant
