5 Strategies for Getting High-Quality External Links to Boost Your SEO

How would you like to boost the search engine rankings of your website? Getting high-quality external links from high-quality websites and blogs can drastically improve your SEO. But where can you find them? In this blog post, I will give you five practical strategies for getting high-quality external links to boost your SEO.

Let's dive in.

1. Creating Great Content

Creating great content can be challenging, but it is essential for engaging readers and building an audience if you create content. Adding internal and external links to help your website build authority in your niche.

The following list can be done in steps to create great content.

Research your topic: Research current trends in your writing field. Read articles from other sources for ideas and context.

Always know your target audience: You should understand what they want to see on your website.

Focus on a content strategy: Determine what topics you will cover, how often you will post new content, and what type of content format (blog post, video, podcast, etc.) you will use to engage your readers.

Write out an outline: A content outline can help you logically organize your content. It will help you understand how your article will be structured.

Create compelling headlines: To get readers to click on your article, you must have an exciting and attention-grabbing headline.

Provide high-quality content: Focus on quality over quantity when creating content for your audience. Ensure that articles are well-researched, precise, and easy to understand, with accurate facts and explicit language.

Write in an engaging, conversational tone: Write as if you are talking to a friend. This will make your content more engaging and help readers relate to your writing.

Use of Visual Aids: Visuals such as images, videos, infographics, and charts can help you communicate your message in a more straightforward manner as well as break up long blocks of text for readers.

Add internal and external links: You can use internal links to increase your website's authority and improve the quality of your content by linking to pages from other sites. External linking to the authoritative source can also help improve your website's authority.s

Proofread and edit: Please make sure your content is error-free and consistent in style and tone before publishing.

Optimize for search engines: Optimizing your content for search engines will help you attract more visitors by assisting them in finding your website when they use specific keywords related to your niche.

Promote Your Content: Don’t forget to promote your content on social media and other channels to reach more people. This will help ensure that as many people as possible see your

Copying or duplicating existing articles can damage your website's credibility and negatively affect your SEO ranking, so write unique, quality content if you want to earn those external links.

2. Creating External Links Worthy of Content

Creating relevant content is one of the best ways to earn high-quality external links. But what does that mean exactly? Essentially, it means creating valuable content worthy of being shared or linked to by other websites.

To create link-worthy content, you must first understand your target audience and their interests.

  • What topics are they interested in?
  • What questions do they have?
  • What kind of content do they read and share?

To create external links, you are encouraged to do the following:

1. Producing Compelling Content: Create informative, engaging, and shareable content that other websites want to link to.

2. Your content is well-researched and informative. As well as presenting valuable information, it should be presented visually appealing, encouraging people to link back to it.

3. Repurposing Content: Repurpose content from your blog or website into an infographic, video, podcast, or another format to gain new links.

4. Guest Posts: Write guest posts on influential websites in your industry or related industries, and don’t forget to include a link back to your website!

5. Building Relationships: Reach out to people who have linked to similar content and ask them if they might be interested in linking to yours.

6. Participating in Forums/ Q&A Sites: Answer user questions in forums or Q&A sites relevant to your industry. When appropriate, include a link back to your website.

7. Creating your Infographics: You can create your infographic. Be creative so it goes viral. It is also a shareable piece of content that often receives links when embedded on other websites or shared on social media.

8. Promote your content across social media channels: The more eyes on your content, the greater your chances of earning high-quality backlinks.

9. Format your content correctly using headings and subheadings: Breaking up long paragraphs into smaller ones and using bullet points or numbered lists.

You're more likely to earn those valuable external links if you follow these tips for creating link-worthy content!

3. Reaching Out to Websites and Bloggers

Reaching out to websites and bloggers is a great way to get high-quality external links. However, it's essential to approach this strategy with respect for the blogger or website owner you're talking about. The steps to do this are as follows:

  • Find blogs or websites related to your website's topic.
  • Identify relevant websites and bloggers related to your niche.
  • Find the contact information for the blog or website owner.

  • Create a personalized outreach email to bloggers related to your niche.
  • Please look for their sites' backlink profiles to ensure they have high-quality links from trusted sources.
  • You can find the website or blog content, then comment and share it. This shows that you are sincerely interested in their content.

  • Introduce yourself and explain how your content can benefit the website or blog owner via email or social media.
  • You can offer to write a guest post or provide a resource for their readers. Make sure the content is high quality and provides value to their readers.
  • When they accept your offer, create the content according to their guidelines and submit it for review. Thank them again for reviewing it.

When you reach out to other bloggers, ensure your pitch is personal and authentic, as they receive countless pitches daily. Engaging bloggers on social media platforms like Twitter or LinkedIn will increase your chances of them sharing your content - please follow up with them if you need to.

Keep at it consistently over time for better results. Don't expect immediate success from a single outreach effort.

4. Commenting on Niche Blogs Sites and Forums

Commenting on niche blog sites and forums is another effective strategy for building external links. You can establish yourself as an industry authority by commenting on relevant blogs. If you do this, other bloggers might link back to you. But do not expect it because you have commented on their blog.

I recommend that you do not post irrelevant comments to get backlinks. You should ensure your comments are helpful and relevant to the blog post. Commenting on forums is also effective, but it can be time-consuming.

Your blog and forum comments should always add value and be helpful. Rather than leaving generic words like "great post" or "thank you for sharing," provide thoughtful feedback or ask insightful questions that spark discussion. In Wealthy Affiliate, most members use SiteComments for this purpose, and remember to do the same on another niche website.

If you want to receive high-quality and relevant links from blogs and forums related to your business or industry, find blogs and forums where people discuss these topics.

Commenting on niche blog sites and discussion forums can be an excellent way to build external links while establishing yourself as an expert in your niche. Just remember to focus on adding value first.

5. Leveraging Social Media Networks

Social media is a potent tool for building external links. By sharing your content on social media platforms, you can reach a wider audience and increase the likelihood of others linking to your content.

Photo image: Social media icons (we don't use Google Plus anymore; that's gone)

Step 1: Identify the leading social media networks relevant to your industry.

Step 2: Create accounts on those networks and engage with other users. Ask questions, provide insights, and share content that resonates with your target audience.

Step 3: Share your content regularly, using relevant hashtags to reach more people.

Step 4. Monitor the links created from your social media activity and use analytics tools to measure the impact of your efforts.

You should focus on creating compelling content that will attract people's attention and encourage them to share it with their followers after following the steps and identifying the social platform that fits your niche.

The content should be visually appealing, accompanied by compelling captions emphasizing its value. You can include other authoritative websites in your content and leverage social media influencers and partners to increase your reach.

Final Thoughts

To ensure your website's search engine ranking stands out in today's digital age, it is crucial to have an abundance of high-quality external links pointing to your site. It is essential to follow the five strategies to make this happen: generate engaging content, contact and collaborate with websites and bloggers, comment on relevant blogs and forums, take advantage of social media networks, and create external link-worthy content. Remember that getting the desired number of external links requires time, diligence, and persistence.

Awesome stuff, Brenda, but it might be more difficult for me since the only thing I am doing right now is promoting the books that I write! I am likely going ot pursue the autoresponder route!

I have this post bookmarked though! Always appreciated!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, you never know if one day this will come into handy. I know your book publishing takes precedence above all else. That is essential to you. I can see you are a hard worker. I can see it in your hands from the photo. You got hard-working handyman's hands!

I know it will come in handy, Bremda, eventually, if everything doesn't change all over again. Haha! Thanks, my friend. That is from 32 years of toil!

Jeff

Great content, Brenda as always

Thanks, Kirk. I am not always confident that I bring value, but it is the priority. This is an example of a blog post I am doing on my website—the same writing style. Just the content on WA is geared toward members and organic traffic; the content on my site is not duplicated. Different content but the same topic about blogging. I am doing what ParthaB taught me. Thanks for stopping by to comment even if it's short. I like that.

Hi Brenda.
Thank you for sharing.
Good post.

Greetings,
Slavka 👋

Sure, you are welcome. I hope you're doing well. It has been a while since I've seen you. Thanks for the comments.

Thank you for asking. I'm fine.
I'm here, I'm trying to be as present as possible, but there's still a lot going on in everyday life.
I hope that everything is fine with you and that you are achieving good results.

Many greetings, successful work.
Be well Brenda.

Slavka 👋

Ok, that is good to know. Yes, life is always that way. Thanks for explaining. Have a great week.

Your are welcome. Have a great week too. 👋

Hi, Brenda

These are all great ways to get backlinks!

I find that some decent music domains link to my more popular informational posts.

I haven’t actively pursued backlinks, but it’s definitely a worthwhile endeavor.

Rock On!🤘
Frank 🎸

Hi Frank, sounds like you are doing the right thing. Partha's blog explains how you can do it without guest posting and the whole nine yards. He explains how to do it by commenting on other websites and posting on your website. Have you done that? I am working on compiling a list of websites to comment on organically. Google Bard is helpful with that—only three at a time.

No , Brenda. I haven’t gotten around to any of that, yet.

So much to do, Lol. 😎

Frank 🥁🎸

Hi Frank. I know I kvetched about that to Partha, but then I realized the guy has a point, so I decided to try it. I aimed for three listings and see if I could pull it off. Guest posting takes a long time, and not every website blogger will respond. The idea is to continue building relationships with your readers when they comment on your site. Not enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be down. I can relate to that very well.

Yeah, I’m not trying to build a full time income. Just a hobby site that pulls in a little money. 😎

Yes, I understand.

Must try these quality external links. Hehe.
Actually great post, I’m bad for reading it the wrong way. Lol..
Steve

Hi Steve, it must be interesting to be you. Smile, LOL!
