No matter where you live, people around you and perhaps you yourself, will experience financial hardship. You may lose your job, get furloughed, have to work without pay, or not get a raise. Are you prepared for events like these?

In this day and age having a financial safety net is not only needed but a smart way to plan for retirement. Being a member of WA can greatly help you achieve this but it is up to you to actually reach success.
I am having a real hard time right now with rent for the month and I thought that I had enough money on my credit cards but I have been making the mistake by buying into a lot of these on-line offers and not realizing with credit card is being used and not keeping track of how much money I have on each one. I have to stop buying in on all these offers and not getting any turn from them.
There was a time that I too got distracted by the "Shiny Object Syndrome" and found nothing but hyped up online offers that did not deliver what was claimed. But then I found WA and loved how there was no hype here.
Yes there are claims that you can earn a lucrative income in affiliate marketing, but you first have to learn how and then work hard to achieve it. It's that last point that separates those that succeed and those that do not.
You must put in a solid effort and a fair amount of time and patience if you want to make good money in this industry. But many people want it to be quick and easy. That is not a winning formula for success in anything.
I started back in October, but got distracted by some petty things. It's now 2019, and I plan to make this the year that'll define what I'm truly capable of.
Go for it! I know that I have seen this happen to many members and to a certain extent it happened to me too not long ago. Though my distraction was not related to making money online, personal distractions also have an impact.
I remember about a year ago, Kyle started a discussion on his Facebook page where he asked what things have prevented us from getting ahead in our online businesses. My reply was, spending too much time socializing on WA. LOL

Yes. I agree. The one main reason I do not go up on live chat that often is because it is really easy to get distracted and socialize about non WA conversations.
I'm not saying that is a bad thing. But most times I only pop on when I see someone ask a question that has not been answered by those chatting amongst themselves.
Just read SleeperF's comments, and he did make some good ones...but we cannot live by "what ifs." We have to go with what we believe in and hope it will be our salvation. I think we have a far better chance of making something good out of WA than out of anything else I've come across out there. And, whatever we do, we will find some problems or challenges. I think we minimize those with WA.
For my part, I intend to ride the WA wagon as far as it will take me.

We cannot operate in today’s technology world by worrying too much about tech problems, they are going to happen regardless.
Fortunately what we have here at WA helps to shield us from most of these potential problems. This is one of the reasons why more people succeed here than elsewhere.
I'm not sure I entirely agree with your assessment. I think there are several factors that you need to take into consideration when looking into affiliate marketing.
Hackers can be a big problem in the online world, and while not every site will be hacked, there is potential for that to happen. Hacking can be just as destructive as an earthquake or fire that would destroy a brick-and-mortar building.
(I'm not saying this will happen, but) what will one do if the internet goes completely out? If there is no longer a world wide web, then you've truly lost your business (to be fair, if the internet does go, there are a lot of other major problems that will probably be bigger than losing a website).
What about Google algorithms? Facebook/YouTube blocking/disbanding people? Theme's breaking and websites crashing?
On the flip side, I do think that affiliate marketing is a way to go - but I don't think it is the only way to go. I don't see affiliate marketing as having less risk than any other business idea (granted, I'm still 'young in the force', so what do I know :D)
IF the internet were to go down, and that’s a big if, both online and offline businesses will greatly suffer because brick and mortar businesses rely on the internet to function as well.
Even though the extent of loss would not be as great, banking, security, accounting, energy, product ordering and returns all rely in some part or whole on the internet.
However the chances of the entire internet going dark are less than a person losing their job. When you are in a job that you have no control of your destiny, having your own website business gives you that control.
Learning and mastering technology will never be perfect but for the most part it can be done. Google’s algorithms are not that hard to understand. SEO is only difficult to those who overthink the process.
But people will always have problems with technical issues, it is the nature of operating in a technical world. You just have to learn from what does not work and find ways that will. If not you will be on the outside looking in.

I’ve lost my last two jobs and was asked to tender my resignation in a political way. Anyway, I’ve to thank them. If not, I’ll be still dreaming about having a permanent stable job until retirement.
Hence, I’m building my future passive life-long income right now! I want to have a portion of that big pie!

Everything new has a learning curve but what is great about the WA training is that it makes the curve easier to learn. The training lessons are easy to understand for no one with tech experience and if you still cannot absorb it, you can take the lesson again and again, as well as ask questions.

Do not dwell on the "what ifs" because they will keep you from experiencing the joys of being your own boss. Also do not get distracted by other so called opportunities and shiny objects that claim quicker easier wealth. They too will hinder your progress.

I'm relating to this at the moment! I have just returned to work on light duties after 5 months off with a work related injury, but don't know if I will recover fully and my husband was told his company has gone into administration 4 weeks before Christmas. This year is very uncertain for us, and I don't know where it will lead, it's a big worry to us both. It is more important than ever that I move forward with Wealthy Affiliate, and try and make a success of it. One minute we were both employed and financially secure and now we are not sure where we will end up.

I am sorry to hear that Jenny and this happens to so many people in a variety of different ways. A friend of mine is a computer technician contractor of the federal government in Washington DC.
Because of this stupid government shutdown he is not getting paid, nor will he get any back pay for the work he is forced to do for free. And his contract states that he cannot do tech work for any other company.
Fortunately his wife has a good paying job as a yoga and health instructor and he can do part time gigs as a bartender. But anything can happen to anyone at anytime that can financially hurt them.
Having a financial safety net is sorely needed by everyone nowadays because you never know when your primary source of income can come to a halt because of something out of your control. It is a stressful feeling.
