GET READY FOR A VISUAL CAR TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

What you are about to see are cars that you personally have probably rode in as a kid, know someone who had one or even a car you may have owned. Though many states here in the U.S. will classify cars differently as Vintage, Antique and Classic, the general rule of classification are as follows.

  • Vintage are cars built between 1919 and 1930.
  • Antiques are cars built 1975 and earlier.
  • Classics are cars built 1999 and earlier.

Basically cars older than 25 years as of now in 2025 are considered Classic. That now brings me to my first car ever. It is now considered an Antique. It was a 1975 Buick Skylark 4-door in powder blue. Similar to the one below but with different wheels.

My father bought it from our next door neighbor for $50.00 in 1980. WOW! Only $50? I have more than that in my wallet right now! I drove that car from New Jersey to Florida and back when I was 20 years old, on my first road trip without my mom and dad. That car also had a cassette tape player and I felt so cool driving it.

Then my first brand new car I bought was a 1983 Pontiac Sunbird 2-door in champagne, similar to the one above. It was my very first car I bought on my own after working for my dad for a couple of years. I saved up my money and bought it once I turned 21. I actually wanted to get the 1983 Pontiac Trans Am below but I couldn't afford that.

I kept that 1983 Sunbird for six years and got into my first accident, not my fault. Thankfully it was just a minor smash in the rear side panel. Then I bought a 1989 Chevrolet Beretta GT. I got this car up to 120+ mph while racing my friend on a deserted highway at 2:30 in the morning. I won the race as we both blew by two cops. NO ticket!

1989 Chevy Beretta GT

I always buy American and mainly General Motors. My dad was the same way. I learned to drive in his 1976 Chevrolet Van with a "Three-On-A-Tree" shifter. Do you know what a Three-On-A-Tree is or what it looks like? It's a column shift manual transmission. How many of you can drive a manual transmission car or truck?

Three On A Tree Manual Transmission

Have you ever gone to an Auto Show and were amazed at the sheer beauty of cars from way back when? They had strong features like artful lines, winged back fenders, chrome bumpers and white wall tires. My dad had a red 1960 Chevrolet Impala when I was born, similar to the one in the picture below. I think this is why I had 2 red cars.

THE CLASSIC CARS & HOT RODS NICHE

If you like different types of automobiles, both Old and New, did you know you can make that your niche? It is a very popular niche and also profitable. There are affiliate programs for customized aluminum tire rims as well as high performance tires. Then you have products like car parts, car detailing supplies, customizing kits and so much more!

Below are just a few automotive companies with affiliate programs. Check out their websites and see if there are any products that you wish to promote. All of those websites offer high-ticket products and decent commissions. The link to their affiliate programs are down in their sitemap at the bottom of their website pages.

Cars Supplies Warehouse = 10% + 14 Day Cookie

Harley-Davidson = 5% + 30 Day Cookie

Parts Geek = 8% + 30 Day Cookie

RevZilla = Up To 7% + 14 Day Cookie

Tire Rack = 6% + 45 Day Cookie

In regards to the Harley-Davidson Affiliate Program, that one has the highest available products when it comes to commissions. You can actually promote any type of motorcycle that Harley-Davidson makes. Can you imagine making a 5% commission on a $30,000.00 motorcycle? That would be a $1,500.00 commission!

If you haven't read my WA Blog about this, check out, Who Wants To Earn Commission On A $12K+ Product? There are way more narrowed sub niches in the automobile and transportation niches, than the ones I mentioned above. Don't forget, boats and jet skis are both part of the transportation niche. - Now for more Antique cars!

MY DAD & I BOUGHT AMERICAN - MY SISTERS FOREIGN

I guess boys follow their dad's lead. Maybe that is why I mainly buy American brand cars. However, my sisters, they all bought foreign made cars. How many of you reading this have bought cars like these? Though this one is still being made, the Type 1 Volkswagen Beetle was discontinued in 2003. My oldest sister had one like this.

My middle sister and the younger one, all three are older than me, they went for more sporty looking cars. Maybe that's why I like sporty looking cars too! The middle sister was for most of her life a fan of Toyota. The first one she ever bought was a dark red 1970 Toyota Celica sport similar to the one in the picture below.

My youngest sister, the one who is 5-years older than me, liked the brand called Datsun. Do you remember that name? They later changed their name to Nissan. Her first car was an orange 1973 Datsun 240Z, like the one below. I remember driving in it with her. It was fast and I was a bit too scared at her driving techniques - women drivers.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Have you driven in any of the cars I showcased above? - Do you remember what your first car was or which car you liked the best? - What kind of car, truck or motorcycle do you have now? - What car would you like to own someday? Go fill the comments below with pictures of your first, best, current or dream vehicle. Show Off Your Ride!

All fantastic looking beasts Rob... I started my days in a 56 Austin A35.... four door.... then my mini (racing green from about 77 I believe....

Then my baby... I bought a light blue.. Triumph Herald convertible from 68 I believe.... had an accident in him.. nearly killed me!!

I'm still breathing but... unfortunately the car isn't...

One of my biggest bad decisions of all time .... leaving the decision to the insurers....

2

Just got wiped off here and want to say it wasn't my decision .....

When someone says they had a convertible, I always like to see what the car looks like. I've always wanted to drive / own a convertible. Is this picture similar to what your convertible looked like?

1

Man.... that is nearly perfectly what my baby looked like!!!

Well done!! :-)

2

Thanks! Happy to have brought back some fond memories for you Nick.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! :-))

Hey! I started out driving my Dad's 1976 Chevy Van with a 3-on-the-Tree manual shift also! It had a Straight-Six 250 engine. Great, dependable engine, but the van needed more gears. At 60 MPH, the poor engine was reaming fast! Later, I changed out lifters and switched out the nylon camshaft gear for a new steel one. It was easy to work on. My first car I bought was a 1973 Cutlass Supreme with a 350 Rocket Engine.

It's a small world when you find someone else that started out driving a 3-on-the-Tree manual shift. Nowadays finding anyone who knows how to drive a manual transmission is few and far between.

Though I only buy American and only GM, I've had a Buick once, a Pontiac once, an Oldsmobile once, and 3 Chevrolet vehicles, all three I kept for many more years than the others. I'm a Chevy Fan.

Remember back in the day when people used to customize their vans? I miss those days of custom paint graphics and lots of chrome. You don't see that anymore, even though the vans of today look different.

Love the 69 Chev. I own a 1975 Buick LeSabre convertible. I am a mechanic and have driven a lot of these beautiful cars from the 1960s to the 1990s

Best wishes,
Michael

Thank you Michael. I just noticed that LeSabre is your user name. After all these years of following you, it finally makes sense. lol

Though my first ever car was a 1975 Buick Skylark and my Dad had a 1974 Buick Electra, I had to Google what the '75 LeSabre Convertible looked like. Nice Car!

It was my pleasure Timothy. I see you are a Chevy fan like me and my Dad. I thought about getting a Chevelle once, when thinking about owning a muscle car or a Camaro SS. - I used to see pictures of my Dad's 1957 Bel Air with the white wall tires, like this one but in a burgundy color.

2

Oh! yes! That all ive ever had, all I will ever have, Thanks for the reply
