5 Thoughts That Crush Success

I've just read a very timely (for me, anyway) article on the most common self-sabotaging thoughts that many people have. Each of these success-crushers is expanded on with details of why we have these thoughts and, more importantly, how to dispel or at least minimize them.

The five thoughts are:

1. I am not an expert.

2. It's already been done.

3. I don't know the right people.

4. You need money to make money.

5. I always...

I checked off three of the five as solidly applying to me with another as a sometimes thing. If you hear yourself saying these things, I highly recommend this article. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some work to do on these items. :=)

Hi Bob
I like this, we certainly do poison ourselves with our own negatives

Thank you for the recommendation of this article, most inspiring!

Yes Bob having awareness of your thoughts is vital for avoiding self sabotage. Thanks for this very insightful post and sharing the article.

Just by being at WA, everybody can check of #3 ; ) Great list

Excellent point. Just by being here, we DO know the right people. :=)

Self limiting beliefs! I'm working on those, great post. :)

Good post and a good article! It is always good to take time to reflect and make sure we are not cluttering our mind with defeating thoughts!

Good article. I have found those thoughts in every corner of my mind. Fighting with thoughts is everyday unending tasks. Good to know where they are otherwise I let them lead my life.

I must admit these thoughts sometimes niggle at me, but I succeed in fighting them so I am fortunate enough to have this will power. And what I tel myself for each is:
1: this is a way to make yourself an expert, you will enjoy the learning experience.
2 What hasnt been done? you have to make the best with what you have and do it differently than the others that have it done maybe even better.
3. Its time to get myself in the game, I will run into the right people if I truly need them,
4. Make a little money then reinvest bigger each time
5. I always will think of excuses but I have to buck up and stay focused
Hopefully a little something to help you

I have often seen these traits in people but have fortunately, over the years, not myself become set in stone. Experience I suppose as I read the link you posted and thought to myself, I used to do that but made myself change. Now I encourage people to try things as you are never to old to learn and change. I do however, at the moment, have a partner who is wallowing in negativity. Mostly, I believe, due to some physical injuries and bad weather that has led to the overrun of money use while building our house. It does drag you down but I am trying to ignore him (while still trying to pull him out of it) and stay cheerful and positive. So onward I plunge into WA!

Hi Bob. These 5 ideas can truly hurt one's success and I can see myself in some of them as well. I'm off to read the full article and thank you for sharing it! :)
