What's all the fuss about?
Today the WA rankings went crazy, or did they? Everyone dropped by about 75% so in a way its made no difference. I'll admit I was disappointed when I first saw my rank move up from 86 to 348, you need to divide by 4 to get back to the original number.
Now at this time I don't know the reason but It might be all the past members have been added back into the system increasing the overall membership numbers. If this is the case, its not such a bad thing as the overall volume of people who are passing through WA gives status to our community.
I have now resigned myself to the fact that it is what it is, and I will now be even more determined to get back into the top 100 than I was in the first place.
If the rank is not important which I have been told by a few now, then why have the changes created such a furore? Everything else has taken a back seat. I rest my case.
My disappointment today is that it has taken the edge off the valid points and discussions raised, I for one get a lot out of the different questions and opinions and would rather be blogging about Google rankings than WA for example.
Lets hope we all get back to normal tomorrow.
For those that do care, I will see you in the top 100 shortly.

I hadn't even realized until you mentioned it! Oops.
I was sitting around the 53 mark, and happy about that. Do not enjoy seeing it at 220, but if it is just an error that will be fixed that is great. If not, then I am determined to work back into the top 100. Although as long as I am progressing on my site and working hard, the ranking isn't overly that important (just nice to see :) )
Yeah Bill, I think it's only human nature that makes everyone want to be number one. Even though we all say it don't matter, I think all the chatter says it all.
You have hit the nail on the head Roger, but I am still amazed by the reaction in the community.

Hey there just wanted to let you know that this "I don't know the reason but It might be all the past members have been added back into the system increasing the overall membership numbers" is probably incorrect because even kyle and carson are not the two top ranked members anymore =p which is well def. not right. Kyle mentioned some updates/fixes rolling in yesterday or last night and I am sure that it made something go a lil wonky. Give it some time and it will all correct itself im sure.
I would imagine people suddenly feel like they did something wrong to get such a drastic change, i didnt even notice until i saw the overwhelming number of people posting about it.
Hi Bill. Very nice post my friend. I just logged on to my email and saw all the talk. I'm so focused on my second website that have not paid much mind to the rankings.The Ambassador program is a goal. However; it should come naturally through conversations, kindness and appreciating other peoples contributions. It's not the main goal though. None of us signed up for WA for the Ambassador program. We signed up to become online business owners. Let's all stay focused.

The rank for me is a value to make me feel good that I had done much work with helping people and also to remind me of my studying here at WA. Which also makes me work harder with my WA education :)
We ALL need or maybe just me need a target/goal to reach even if I´m working with Studying at WA or Making my websites to get rank in google.

I agree with you Thomas, I was very proud to get into the top 100 and it had been one of my goals. Oh well they moved the goal posts, but all that mean's is that I now move my goal. Thanks for commenting on my blog.

Well, all I can say is that I am not fussing. My rank here is really not that important and I just use it more like a guideline then anything else.
Either its a glitch or something new. Either way I am still working hard to learn, create, and help others.
