A Picture Says A Thousand Words
I don't know what this says about me but...........It really bugs me when people put pictures of something other than themselves as their profile picture. My first impression is to not connect with them. Am I the only one?

I have had great assistance from those that have an avatar pic, I find it to be their choice I suppose...I prefer to put my own picture that happens to be consistent in everything that I have as an account, if I update it..then everything gets updated so its still consistent...:))
I do the same thing. And I do follow people without pictures of themselves. Still bugs me though.......Feels like they don't trust me enough to show a picture of themselves.
This day and age I think some just think its cool, or like it to reflect their own unique personality...hard to say. :))
You may be taking this too personal. They don't know you or me, and maybe you won't get to know them, so what. I prefer not to go out of my way to find things to 'bug' me. I stopped a long time ago expecting people to act as I would prefer that they act. I think that saves me a lot of frustration.
i guess I'm using the word me in a global sense. Should have said aren"t trusting in general. I'm always curious about why people do what they do. I also don't go out of my way to find things that bug me but when they come to mind I try to acknowledge them. From a business standpoint it just makes sense to me to let your potential customers and your peers know who you are. There's so many half truths in the Internet marketing world. Whenever I come accros profiles with no picture or an avatar that's incongruent with the content they produce I can't help but wonder what they're hiding.
Can't say I don't agree with you. That is so true with the internet, never know sometimes if you are even engaging a male or female as well.
It would be nice if everyone put their photo up, however, I look more at what they've written (or not) on their profile. If they have no photo and no profile info, I'm VERY cautious and might not follow. Just me as a woman. However, if they have no photo yet a good profile, I'll follow. I agree with you though -- I'd really like a "real" photo of the person and believe that it's a must have on the website. ~Debbi
Their choice not mine. For me it comes down to content and if we can relate. That goes for their WA name as well. My first name isn't really Brooklyn. ;^)
No, you are not.
I know how you feel.
Adding your own picture of yourself can improve your credibility and lead to more followers.
I'll connect with anyone regardless if they put their photo on their profile page, some members might be to shy or for other reasons. I mean it would be nice if everyone would put their photo on their profile page but maybe there's a reason they don't. Just my 2 cents:)

I guess I can say it doesn't bug me so much as it makes me think these people will not be successful until they choose to be more open. People will not buy or interact until they feel they are communicating with a real person. Not a good strategy to start out with unfortunately.
