Lowering your bounce rate
Hello everybody, hope you all enjoyed the Easter break
I have decided to do a post on bounce rate, which is something Google looks at very closely and is becoming an important signal to Google on the quality of the end user experience while on your site
So many people focus on getting traffic to their site but how long are they staying on your site, is what really matters, getting lots of visitors to your site and them leaving very quickly can actually do damage to your rankings.
One of the most important things Google wants, for searchers on line, is that your site is the end of the search not the beginning, in other words keeping people on your site has become a big part of SEO
Now there are many ways to reduce or lower your bounce rate, so I do not intend to get into a great big SEO debate here, but just to suggest a simple way that can help you to achieve this
Have you ever thought of adding an online puzzle or other game to your site to keep your visitors occupied.
Now before you shout out, I am not in the gaming niche, this is not for me, just wait a tic
Think about how many people buy magazines in every niche imaginable, what do all magazines and newspapers have in common - They have puzzles, quizzes and crosswords, which most people love, they are there for a reason, to keep the reader engaged that's why they have them.
You may not want to do this of course, but let me tell you about a little statistic I had on my candy crush blog today, only 9 visitors but 100 page views from only 9 people this means they are staying on my site
So here is how you do it - fortunately its easy and free, the website you need is called FOG - Free Online Games here is the URL
http://www.freegamesforyourwebsite.com/
Once there, you don't have to sign up or anything, just select the game you want, then you will see a tab that says "Click here to embed this game" click on this and you will be given a embed code
As well, just copy and paste the instructions and description for the game into a text editor
Once you have all the info, create a page or post and click text view and simply copy and past the info for the description and instrctions for the game, including the embed code and give the page a title and then publish
The game has a 30 second advert on it that's why its free, don't worry its just an organic advert on the latest movie or game, nothing to click on, so they wont leave your site.
Well just something for you to think about to engage your visitors, if you would like to see this in action here is the link to my candy crush site, so you can see some of the games on here
It does not matter which niche your in, this can be used for any niche, but if you are in the games niche then you will want to try this especially
To all your success
Barry

That is a nice idea but I have one question here- we should decrease the bounce rate by engaging them with the contents of our site, right? how will it solve our purpose by giving them something that is out of context?
If someone comes to your site and then stays on it by playing a game and you have a banner add of affiliate link on the same page as the game or in the side bar of the page, do you think that there is more chance they will see your add than if they leave straight away
If I buy a magazine on wedding planning, the crossword or puzzle still has nothing to do with wedding planning, yet I will enjoy the crossword or puzzle and as such enjoy the magazine more and buy another one
next week
At the end of the day, just test things out, if you put a game on your site and it works keep it, if not take it away
Marketing is really all about testing things to see what you customers want and enjoy then give them more of what they want
Hope this helps
To your success
Barry
