My Journey to an Email Collector

For those who have been following my crazy journey to create an email subscription collector for my MMO here is the followup story.

I have really listened to all the advice and even did a graph of 5 of the suggested auto

responder companies. There was so much to compare. Not just the price per month but also how they counted subscribers (Unsubscribe and Duplicate). This can mean that your Free 500 subscriptions are not really 500 but many duplicates and unsubscribes. Also, I found that some companies were really hard to understand how to set it all up. Mailchimp was so confusing and clunky that I quit as I'm not tech savvy, whilst Sendinblue has a lot less polished setup than say Aweber.

I went with Aweber in the end, they had a 500 subscriber free trial and lots of help! No time limit.

Here is the chart.

One issue is will my emails be delivered? I found that with some really cheap companies my emails went straight into peoples spam boxes. Not good! I have stuck with Sendinblue for my music website as I can't setup two websites on Aweber for free. I will be interested to see how they compare in a couple of months.

So all said and done everyones advice to go with Aweber, especially for a Money Making Opportunity website ticks all the boxes. I'm so relieved to have a nice pop up on my website, a side widget and I am adding the subscription link to the bottom of my posts. We will see how the results show up. Building your own email list from your website is your ticket to success.

On another note I was distracted by a sign up and create an email list super fast promotion

whilst I was doing all this homework. I was interested but I took the time to read about it and check out the reviews with several clever people and found that it was just another borderline scam, pyramid sales type program. Designed pretty much to extract money from newbies like me. Fortunately, I'm always aware that there are sharks out there and I think I'll take the slow road to success with Wealthy Affiliate. Still, the best and safest learning platform around. Stay aware!

See you at the top.

I'm happy to answer any questions.

Keep smiling and growing my friends. Jump in and get those email collectors set up, it's free and you really need to do this today.

Hi Lily,

My experience with AWeber has not been as positive as yours so far. I spent a lot of time setting up the autoresponders and I thought they were looking quite good. BUT ! It transpires the code in their auto messages was making my site "unsafe" so people were getting this message when they clicked on my links from Google. Bing etc.,.

I think it had something to do with the fact I was using their "free" service. Had I upgraded and paid for their paid service my experience might have been different. So AWeber are not my favourite email service right now. I also spent a lot of time setting it up.

In the end I opted for a static box which does not appear to impact the site but the "pop ups" seem to be a bit unstable. I might look at the email service again at some point, but for now, AWEBER are not my favourites.

I only found out about the "security" issues thanks to another WA member whith whom I was working on guest articles.

Best Regards,

Trevor

Thanks for sharing your experience as it will make me keep an eye on my MMO website where I have Aweber. This is a frustrating journey and I can now understand why many people skip gathering emails. I'm trying MailerLite at the moment and setting it up seems easy. The pop up looks nice. I will post an update in a month if it all works out.
Warm regards
Lily 😊🎢

MailerLite eh. I have made a note & look forward to hearing how it works out. To be honest, this is the first major frustration I have had but hey, its a great learning process, we improve daily by overcoming these gremlins.

Have a great day.

Trevor

Definitely no business platform can be compared with Wealthy Affiliate but thanks for your write up on these autoresponders that are out there to enrich themselves. I also follow the slow road in fact i'm still indecisive on which to follow after Aweber collected so much from me for some months without any result. I opted out since then.

That's such a shame. At least you can start free with them now to 500 subscriptions. I'm road testing Sendinblue on my other website, I'll keep you posted.
Lily 😁🎢

Hello LJacob, Life is a journey,it is better to progress and complete

Hi again, just thought I would let you know that I am trialing MailerLite atm. It is easy to setup and looks great. I will write a post in a month and give an update. It's free to 1000 subscribers so you will lose nothing.
Warm regards
Lily 😊🎢

Thanks so much for following up on this, Lily. I was wondering how you were doing. I am in the process of setting that up and I don't want to choose the wrong thing. I will also begin with Aweber, but I will keep my options open. There are super Email profiders that do all the work for you and are fast and automated and give great affiliate fees. But they are quite expensive, so this will be for later.

I agree Joss. I did look at them as well but it tends to muddy the waters and lead to paralysis by analysis. My default is always to go with Free and work back from there. Aweber lets you collect email addresses while learning the ropes for free.

Lily 😊🎢

Aweber is meant to be reliable and flexible in terms of sending out thousands of emails and keeping a large list of subscribers. I had to test if it worked by forcing my big sis to sign up on my website LOL - which it did!
I have been following your jorney in finding an email provider and Well Done, you got there! Celebrate. X.

Doing the 'happy dance' Farah. 😁

I also use Aweber and my experience has been flawless! I have gathered a nice list since joining and I get regular referrals from it!

Did you get your DKIM and SPF setup?
DKIM stands for "Domain Key Identified Email" and SPF allows email senders to define which IP addresses are allowed to send mail for a particular domain.

Basically what this does is to enhance the possibility of your email broadcasts to end up in an Inbox instead of the SPAM folder.

SiteSupport only take 5-10 minutes to complete this for you...

Chrystopher has a very nice training on how to get things rolling Keep on keeping on!
Denis

Yes Denis. Site support were terrific and helped set it up very quickly.
Lily 😊🎢
