New Academy

Well, myself and another artist have finally made the leap! We were given notice to move from our precent base studio two weeks ago because the owner wants to extend into the space. We felt devastated as we had got our signs, advertising and clients. Yes, we were growing out of it and I am still out in many different venues in my local community but it was working to a certain degree. I do find it difficult transporting a portable classroom in my car with all the extras and some heavy pieces of equipment at times but I love what I do.
We started looking and we needed a good located space with two rooms, sink, loos and light as we are teaching art. And at a price we could afford! Well, after looking around feeling really down with the situation we have found a double roomed shop in the centre of our town with near enough what we can work with. We now move in at the end of the month! It even has a little cafe' opposite so clients can meet and chat!
The two local Universities, I mean the two local to us which are 25 miles away in either direction! So for some students that is a journey and a half due to them living in rural villages, has said yes! To us continuing all the courses such as Diplomas and Guilds in our new location so it means we can set up our Academy for Art and Textiles all in one place.
The thought of us having Art Studios in one place for all of our students to come to is just fantastic. I will still have my community art groups but it takes the daily moving about pressure off. Also I will be able to have walls which we can use as a Gallery so we are really made up!
I know this goes against most of the reasons why some of WA members are here, to become Internet Marketers from home but I am combining the internet with my life in a different way. I share my art and students work online and local market our skills. This is part of the process because I am also wanting to start an Academy online so I am hoping the "real life" one will give me the guidelines for the online one.
This feels such a leap but feels good. I realise how far I have come to finally be able to do this and do something different. Our business plan is totally unique ( out of the month of a business advisor) and we have worked it so well so far they feel it is a good plan!!!
We are using a lot of earning steams so that we are not relying on us doing all the work and in certain ways. We are hard working artists and tutors because we love our life journeys. I have learnt over the last couple of years so many different ways of marketing our artwork and WA has shifted me further forward in this to so again, I say in this Thank you!
