Hi Arif, I noticed that problem when I tried to comment your article called "Healthy food for good health". I don't know how to fix it, but I know a workaround: if you click on the link next to 'Comment For' on top of the page instead of clicking on 'view this page', your website opens fine. In fact, about 9 hours ago I left a comment accessing your page in that way, and the comment still shows as pending. Didn't you get the notification of it via SITE COMMENTS?
hi sergio. thank you for your response. i did get your comments on my site. i normally respond within 24 hours. my apologies. i will respond as soon as possible. i have had a few other responses, half of which commented on not been able to access my post through SITE COMMENT. i have therefore been so transfixed trying to resolve this that i has not been able to respond to anyone yet. this is so frustrating. i have to resolve this.
can you tell me where the 'Comment For' is? on top of which page?
much appreciated. thank you.
It's ok, Arif. I asked you only because I thought that, since I did not access your page by clicking 'view this page', maybe the system did not notify you.
I took a screenshot for you of where 'Comment for' is located, for another website that I was suggested to comment. To fix the problem, though, maybe you should send a note to Site Support.
thank you for the response.
i have 4 comments: 3 are of completely different names and 1 has the name 'Sergio' with a different pic and not 'SergioBersa' with the pic above.
that is not the same sergio. is it??
no. i just had a closer. i dont have your comment. a different sergio has put in that comment.
this has never happened before. this is frustrating. do you think if i deleted that posted and created a brand new one with the same link and added on my site as if from scratch then that would work?
It is the same Sergio, actually. The photo you see in the comment does not come from my WA profile but from my gravatar profile, where I choose to use a different photo :)

This appears to be an IT type response that could be server related and as such should bee looked at by site support!
hi. thans for the response. i am in touch with kyle to see if this is such. hoping this could be sorted out. i have learnt one thing. when i request comments. i will only request 1 for testing purpose. then more if required. on this post i have requested 7 and have now had 2 wasted as a result of this issue.
fellow colleagues have commented about the inability to view my site rather than commenting on the post (which of course they cannot do anyway). i am gonna have to reject them as they are not comments about my post. this will mean one wasted credit for me and a loss for the other colleague as well. but PM'ing would have been a better idea like one person did.
1 comment per post from now on as a test! you learn something everyday.
thank you for your comment. if you find out anything otherwise to what you have said, please let me know. thank you.

This does not make sense. I hope someone can enlighten me.

Because Google will look at sites that are mobile ready and rank them higher on mobile devices (than if a site was only desktop friendly).
That is why if your site is mobile friendly, you will typically rank a bit higher as there are still lots of sites out there that are not mobile friendly.
i had no idea it makes any difference. I have not worked on mobile for my site at all. my post for mobile in page 2 whereby it is page 1 for both .com and .co.uk. maybe i should focus a bit on mobile do you think?
It does. Desktops don't need to be responsive. Most themes are built to fit full screen. However, some do not change size well for different devices. Because this is one of the ranking measurements, you will see different rankings. At least I have on some of my posts.
You probably have other keywords that are better than the one you're ranking for.
You just don't know it.
Always best to do a search for a particular URL within quotes.
Example - "my site"
Do this and you will get your sites position for any and all keywords.
Works for me so give it a try.

There is a plugin that lets you track your keywords.

I have a lot of family members who live in the same town as I, some of whom live with me, that make a lot of purchases from Amazon. If they were to do that through my website a
Why would it make a differnce who purchases! I wouldnt think it would matter who purchases!
Barbara
Amazon will often close down your account if it thinks you are manipulating the purchases in any way. So, there is a risk that if a friend or family member's purchase can be tied back to you (such as through physical address or IP address), then you'll lose your account.
It matters because Amazon specifically states that members of the same household cannot purchase through affiliate links, the affiliate account will be terminated.
yeah tell me about it. i thought has occurred to me over the last few months but i didn't do anything thinking its not worth thinking about. then i thought what the heck! might as well get some second opinions. maybe i'm thinking wrong. that you for your reply.
They are both right. The purchaser cannot have the same ip or physical address. Otherwise its ok.
Yes, that's it exactly.
Nevertheless, I would suggest being extremely careful. People sometimes don't pay much attention when making purchases. So, if they make a purchase that Amazon can link back to you in any way, you could lose your account.
It may not be worth the risk just for a little extra commission.
I had a bad experience this summer with a friend buying something through my link. She lives in another state, thousands of miles away, but I had ordered something and shipped it to her in the past as a gift. When she made the purchase, Amazon flagged it since it was an address I had sent something to in the past! Though it was a legitimate sale, it did not count and I did not get the commission. They did not threaten me but said I would never get a commission from anything she bought.
You definitely can't have anyone at the same address buy something through your links.
yeah. suspicions confirmed. so are you saying so long as the address is not the same as yours it should be fine?
As long as the address is not the same and it is also not an address you have ever sent anything to from Amazon. I do not know if they have any other tracking mechanism...perhaps they can see if the order is coming from the same computer? I really don't know for sure on that.
ok. i'm guessing if for e.g. my mother bought items using her own laptop and using her own amazon account, and also if her address is different even if located in the same town then it must be fine? right?
I would think so...unless you had ordered anything on Amazon and had it sent to her at her address in the past. Otherwise, I would think it should work.
There's nothing strange in the idea that a person would prefer to buy something thru' a friend or family member's link. They're going to buy the item anyway - they'd rather help someone they know than someone they don't and Amazon still gets the profit the sale engenders.
And as the percentage paid to affiliates is built into the price of the item - seems to me Amazon is just looking for excuses to keep that percentage for themselves and not pay it out where it was earned. ...But perhaps being money-grubbing is how such places become big.
Yes, I was pretty annoyed at the time when they told me it was flagged as being "a purchase made by you or on your behalf". It wasn't but they didn't care and there was nothing I could do. It was my first sale. Luckily I have made plenty more now but I am leery of friends or family buying anything.
It is definitly a ploy to avoid paying commissions.
If they are in your household, they can't buy from you (address the same), if they don't live with you, they can.

I am trying to speed up my site whilst preventing spam, as i am sure a lot of you are. Question is which anti spam plugin should you use?
I did not have Akismet until th
This is all you need to know. Pure and simple Carson mentions it here. WA has the spam umbrella in place. SiteProtect - Spam Blocking Measures Added to Your Websites!
I was told by Kyle, when I asked him why I didn't have WP Spamshield installed on my new website, that it is out of date and no longer needed. He said WA's protection system of all the websites hosted here is far more powerful than WP Spamshield ever was, and so it is definitely not needed as a plugin anymore.
I think the same must apply to Akismet, because in some of the older training, it is mentioned, but I have not had it intalled on any new site I have created, so I assume that is redundant, now, as well.
YOU DONT NEED A SPAM SHIELD plugin of any kind Guys.....it is taken care of :-)) disable them if you have them....
If you want a good security plugin there is Securi....PM me and i will send you details if you are interested :-))
That's ONLY if/when we use WA servers to host our sites "T".
If we use ANY other hosting we NEED spam control.
Trish
that is correct :-)) as far as i am aware he is referring to his site here, being hosted by WA :-))
If you also look at other comments made prior to mine it appears they are discussing the site at WA :-)) hope you are well and having a good monday :-))
it had some automatic game on it and I was not able to type in. I will try the one you recommended now.
Cheers
ok! this is probably a dud question (sorry, still learning) but how do i know if i am using WA server to host my site?
when you bought your .com site did you transfer it to WA and also do you log in thorugh the WA Site manager?
If your sites are with WA you don't need either.
...I deleted both Akismet and SI CAPTHCA and don' get any spam.
Hi Arif,
You don't need anti-spam as what others said because WA has Site Protection which is a plus for us. It protects us from spam. Its one of the best of WA.
OK. this is universal. just following the training. but like i say this is universal. i think i will delete all. thak you all.
i just had a look. in course 4 lesson 2, kyle says to instal akismet to avoid comment spam. what do you say?
righty-ho jim. thanks for the input. i might go ahead with what you are saying. certainly i think i will delete the rest.
Hi Arif...
You don't need to worry about anti spam if you have built your site with WA...it's all done & installed for you!
Best wishes
Steve
hi steve. so are you saying i should deactivate all three? askismet is in the training to instal. but i cannot remember the rest.
Hi again...
The training in this lesson is a few years old...
You definitely don't need akismet...
It was only a few weeks ago Kyle put out a message that we don't have to worry about the anti spam anymore...
As you can see below...everyone has said you don't need it so just delete it!
i sent a message to kyle just a few minutes ago regarding two of the three plugins.
thanks you for informing me about the message from kyle. i did not know anything about it.
i will delete all three.
That's OK...
Glad I could point you in the right direction!
i tried to find the post he sent but I couldn't find it...
Just a tip...if you think of a question type it in the search here bar at the top and I'll guarantee 9 times out of 10 you will will find an answer to what you are looking for!
