Remember back to when you were in high school or college? What was your most difficult academic subject? Was it math, algebra, geometry, or maybe biology, environmental or cell
Great idea, Arielle! I was always great in English, but all forms of math were challenging..algebra and geometry mainly. I learned more helping my daughters through it than I got out of it in high school and college!
Thanks for your input.I agree that teaching a subject definately increases understanding. I think that's why a lot of graduates programs require students to teach in their 2nd year. Math seems to be a commonly frightful subject, which is something I see as a course assistant in college algebra at my current college.

What school subject did you wish you could have help with?

Hi, Arielle. I didn't care about languages. Today it is biting me you know where. Now I am writing for a living and to top it I think in Afrikaans and translate to English for crying out loud.
Hennie
that sounds like something that would be tough to do. I have to admit I am more of a science and mathematics girl than foreign languages. I know some French but that's about it.

Ok, so I think I have decided I want to go ahead and try to make a tutoring site. The only question is how do I go about it? Does anyone have a lot of youtube how-tos on their
I think that Erin gave you good advice. I am busy to set up my site for the same reason although I want to teach people how to do internet marketing. For now, I write articles about internet marketing and will later start publishing actual tutorials etc.
Hennie
I am just getting into all this now. However, produce content always first and then add other things like your videos--also posting them on YouTube. I hope this at least touches the surface for you!

What is your favorite free word press theme for how to/tutorial websites? I am looking to integrate youtube videos into posts so if you have any plugins that would be helpful f
I recommend free themes from MyThemeShop. Just go through them, you will definitely gonna love it. You don't need a plugin to integrate youtube videos into posts. Can be done just embedding youtube link to your posts by taking "text tab"
Hi Arielle,
You do not need any special theme or plugin to be able to integrate YouTube videos into your posts. You can do that by embedding a video into any post or page.
There are so many good theme and a lot of it comes down to what kind of design you like and the functionalities you are looking for. The hiero theme is very popular among people here at WA, the nirvana theme is great because it has so many functionalities, and the Omega is great because it is so simple. You can check those out and see if you like any of them.
Hope this helps.
All the best,
Mikael

Does anyone have tutoring or a science/math subject as their niche? Molecular biology, chemistry or microbiology? If so what do you link to? Is there any profit in a site that
Awesome idea Kerri!!! I have always wanted to start a youtube channel. This might be my chance.
Hi,
I believe tutoring itself is quite a broad area but there are affiliate programs for it. You should google/search for things like "affiliate + chemistry tutoring" etc and that should get you some info you need.
Best of luck :)
Thanks. I agree with you. I was thinking more of a science subset. I know a lot of people have trouble with chemistry though genetics and microbiology could be other niches.
No, Ariel, I don't have a niche in that area but I don't see any reason why tutoring couldn't be your niche. There seems to be affiliate inking available for pretty much anything anyone can think to write about; I know, for example, that there are several reputable websites for people doing English-language tutoring, so they in fact might have affiliate potential.
I don't see the connection between tutoring and scientific journals -- my own ignorance? Enlighten me!
Tim
Thanks. The first thing I learned as a student was to always research from a credible source so I have a bit of a twinge in my research that edges towards scientific journals being more credible than blogs. Many have links and/ or research on laboratory equipment and what not so I did not want to really compete in those areas. I know as a student I own some small items, microscopes, incubation cabinet, chemical modeling kit, etc but I just couldn't really wrap my mind about what people would buy that would have an association with a tutoring site. Thank you for your advice.
It looks like it can be. If you Google tutoring affiliate program, you'll see some possibilities. I have no idea how good or bad any of them are.
Do you do tutoring? That would be another possibility outside of the affiliate marketing aspect.
Definitely not my niche. :)
Thanks for the advice. Yes, I work for my college as an academic coach and in multiple classes as a peer course assistant. For academic coaching, I help people in writing essays, academic papers, and research resources. I also help student with planning, scheduling, note taking, and keeping their college work on track.
This semester I am a course assistant for two genetics courses, algebra, and biology of ecosystems. My responsibilities for these jobs is to act as a tutor for the coursework, encouragement and keeping track of students academic performance. I really enjoy tutoring science genre courses such as genetics and also enjoy teaching people how to write more effectively and efficiently in academia.
