A Funnel Cake or a Sales Funnel? I thought you used this to bake with?
Ok, so we have all heard the expression of a funnel. When I first heard it I thought it was so peculiar. I mean what do we mean by a funnel? And what do we funnel?
And slowly it is starting to dawn on me what it means. Our sales funnel. Which in a way is very sweet like a funnel cake. But even better because, umm, there are no calories. But we do get incredible rewards: cash!
I was reading the Book Crushing It by Edmund Loh, and he talks about really drilling down and knowing all the different levels of our sales funnel.
And that started me thinking in terms of what would that mean to my site.
And more than that, I could see the need then to truly define the products we are selling.
So see all the different colors and layers on this funnel? Well that is how we determine the levels of the products.
Imagine the yellow at the very bottom, as the most expensive product. And the turquoise at the top, is the least expensive or possibly freebies.
The more I looked at this the more it made sense.
Just like walking into a brick and mortar place, their sales funnel is a mix of the least expensive to the most costly, yes?
So it is about offering all price options. Which makes for more reasons why our readers might want to stay on our site and buy.
Especially if there is a price range for everyone. yes?
WHAT DOES OUR SALES FUNNEL LOOK LIKE?
Time to put on our thinking cap. What can we offer in the the top 3 tiers that are progressively growing in price?
What can we offer in the last two bottom tiers that are high range expensive and high profit?
And that is specific to the niche. If possible, we want to sell as much as possible of information that can just easily be downloaded. That way we are not recreating products or losing time from being visible with our readers.
And he made a really important point, that if we do spend time thinking we have to recreate the wheel, it will not end well. That is something to consider. Yes?
For the last bottom tier that can range theoretically from $500 and up. I have seen some funnels that actually sell in the thousands.
Picture people like Jack Canfield or Tony Robbins who offer training sessions for $5,000 and up. And people buy them. A lot of people buy them.
That would definitely be our bottom tier.
But that bottom tier most likely has a high profit margin. Do you see where I am going with this?
Selling a few of those a month gets us that trip to Hawaii and a whole lot more.
So there is no reason to be stopped by price. And that is a hard concept for me. I want everything to always be affordable to everyone.
But the reality is, if the product is truly highly valued, people who resonate with it, will purchase.
So it comes down to selling the value, while really providing the value, does that make sense?
From the bottom to the top, and the top to the bottom, each product must be of value and great quality. It is a matter of building trust and branding. If products are just not up to par, we will lose the market. Not good for business.
And in reality though, that is also great information to know. That allows us to determine our audiences needs. That is really, really valuable.Yes?
5 THINGS TO KNOW:
1. Make sure our products are specific to our niche
2. Make sure that quality is there.
3 Make sure that content is engaging, informative and life changing, or at least problem solving.
4. Offer what is going to help brand our sites.
5. Do not be intimated by pricing. ( I am telling myself this)

Hi Ariel, I thought I would create my sales pages with with 3 to 5 items that are all basically the same with some having added benefits. I would start with the lowest cost and end with the highest cost with the most benefits. What do you think?

Sounds like a great plan Don. And the thing is it is not stationary. So when it works we keep it. When it doesn't we rework it. So nothing is set in stone,yes? Every time I think I start to get all the major parts of my site and business in place another one shows up! I never took time to look a these things. I will definitely get back to the grindstone and figure out my sales funnel!

The main objective must be to provide value for money, to gain trust for our brand, whether we are offering an expensive product or a less expensive one.
