This is helpful to newbies along with other members on what happens when you type your domain name into google.

A fellow member asked today the question above in fact here is it in full.

"When I type my domain name into google these other sites show up as well featuring some of my articles. I am wondering if this is a good thing or a bad thing?"

Thank Tai for the question and if fact your question gave me a nice surprise I didn't even think about until I saw it. Which I will mention in another blog post is it would be too long here.

To answer Tai's question quickly is Yes it is a good thing for which I will give some examples below.

Ok, so what happens when you type your domain name into google?

You will find some useful benefits here and some interesting areas as well.

Normally when you just type your website name in Google or other search engines you should find many of the posts you created there.

Now before I go on don't think that just by typing your website domain name these posts of you are now seeing are on page 1 of Google or the other search engines.

All you did was type your URL domain name not any keyword(s) relating to that particular post or post. so lets get that out of your head.

Sure you may have some posts ranking but it is not here you would need to check with Jaaxy when it's working or type your keyword for the correct positioning on the web.

Full titles don't really count as page 1 position 1 unless that is the actual term someone would type which I highly doubt.

So typing The Best 20 Reasons How You Can Be The A Superstar Gamer doesn't count as a number one spot.

Who is going to type that except for you but I digress?

Ok, so why do you see other sites when typing your website domain.

There are many reasons mostly to do with backlinks but some are not all backlinks to benefit you.

1) The most common ones you will see as I said are many posts you have created.

2) You may find depending on social media may find some Pinterest ones that may show up and within the title description, you may find your domain name there or at least the site title if it is different than your domain name.

3) There are times other sites that have details about your website like the DNS and other details such as when it was created and more.

4) I have seen the sites like Scam Detector appearing with various sites that one can look into further details about that site.

5) There may be just a coincidence if your site title or domain name can be seen as a keyword and you may feel that relates to you but in actual fact, it has nothing to do with your site.

6) One of the main reasons apart from what I stated above is that when you see other sites using your domain name or site title is that you have a backlink with them.

In Tai's case, there was one I saw as Tai has a cooking or recipe website her post was mentioned on another website.

When I went to that site I saw her recipe there along with a see more button.

When I clicked it this was an external link that took me back to Tai's website for that particular recipe.

That is a backlink that was created mostly likely a natural one as Tai asked the question and was not aware why her website name is appearing on another site when typed in Google.

Final thoughts

Having your website domain name appear on another website can be both a good thing or one not sure great which depends on the quality of both or an individual site.

Obvious Tai wouldn't want to see here Recipe site on a porn site.

This is obviously not a good backlink and won't benefit here.

Don't worry Tai haven't seen one just stating a fact as it does happen including some other spammy sites.

Most of these are trying to get more backlinks from better sites in a sneaky way to improve theirs.

But with Google, it won't help them but also may harm yours unless you take care of it asap.

If one does find a bad backlink which you should be able to find in GSC (Google Search Console) then get them off your site quickly you don't need them.

There should be a disavowal link you can use there if needing assistance create a question to the community or ask for site support for added help giving examples to site support with a screenshot

So hopefully this will help clarify this a bit more.
