My Facebook Group Just Hit Over 1000 Members!

Just a quick post on some of the cool things my team and I have been doing with our decluttering Facebook group. Nothing really huge or major, but a success and 'win' none-the-less.

Let’s dive in!

2 Months In and already 1000 members!

As you can see in the screenshot above, we’ve just hit 1K members within our Facebook group just yesterday!

1008 to be specific.

This is actually an old FB group that my team and I rebranded into our “Motivated To Declutter Challenge” Facebook group. We started posting more frequently in mid January (2024), with the intention of hitting over 30K members by the end of the year (more on that later).

But first, let’s take a look at a few of the stats, and how we actually achieved this!

Show Me Your Stats!

As you can see above, over the last 60 days, we’ve had over 732 new members join. We average around 10 or so organic members joining with 4 different spikes inside those 60 days.

Spike 1 and 2: These two spikes (I believe) are when we ran a single email to our 30K email list - I haven’t been pushing the list to the group as much as I should, but the first spike was just casually (like “Oh, by the way we’re revamping our FB group, join here”).

The second spike was actually where we ran an email and said “Oh, hey, we’re releasing a free one-week decluttering challenge in our FB group, Join to get access!”

Spike 3: I honestly have no clue as to why suddenly member subscriptions jumped up at that time. I’d like to say (and this is pure speculation), that FB is now ‘suggesting’ our group now organically in other people’s feeds, but I honestly have no clue.

Spike 4: We actually just released a free Decluttering and Self Care Bingo card that people can get (if they share our post), which contributed to the spike (as well as the increased members yesterday and today, which we can’t see on the stats).

Why Are You Growing Your Facebook Group If You Have A Large Email List?

I’ll be honest - for this site, I already have a 30k+ email list (close to breaking 40K soon), but back in December, I saw this group:

This was a FB group where a lady (who doesn’t have any website or marketing experience) was able to successfully grow her Facebook group to 30K members in one year's time.

Pretty crazy right?

And so, I figured, well, if she could do it, then I should be able to do this as well. Remember, she grew this entirely organically (i.e. all the people that joined were from Facebook and not from her website, an email list she owned, etc. And she’s growing at about 1K per month. WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING).

So I figured, why not try it out, diversify my pool of people I can target, and see what happens.

What I’m not doing with this Facebook Group

I read a lot of people in other groups who try to use their Facebook group to push more traffic to their site.

However, from what I’ve read, this doesn’t work as well as with other platforms.

So my goal is actually just to have it as a place to get people to have good discussions on, well, how to be and stay motivated while decluttering.

Every month, we run a freebie to the group, to get our FB group members to get on our email list (I push the people both ways, so that, in a sense, I have my subscriber base on two separate platforms in case something goes down with one of them. Diversification, anyone?)

My goal is to monetize it, in a few months from now, and run a few group posts to some brands that want me to sponsor them, or push the facebook group to some of the paid products my team and I have made in the last year.

We’ll see how it works, but that’s what I’m currently doing!

What’s In Store For The Future?

Well, according to what I’ve learned online, once you can get your FB group to around 1K members, then Facebook will start to show you organically to other Facebook group users, and that’s where you can then start to grow more organically.

Since I just hit that, I’m going to try to get more organic members (i.e. members from Facebook and not from my site or email list).

I’m also working on ways to get the members to recommend the group - so we plan to run a few more freebies (with a “share this post to get access to this freebie"), as well as possibly a few free giveaways.

I’ll update you guys in a few months on how that all turned out!

Any Of Y’all In The Decluttering Niche?

I’m actually in the process of looking around for a few people and sites (big or small) in the decluttering, organizing, and cleaning niches to collaborate with.

I’ve got a few ideas of things I’d like to try with some other brands, and so if you’re in one of those niches and want to collaborate (or know someone in that niche), shoot me a message below or PM me, and let’s start talking.

Keep pushing on guys!
