My Progress So Far

Hello All!

I joined Wealthy Affiliate five months ago. Because I knew little to nothing about the world of rankings and websites, etc., I knew going in there was going to be a lot on this road I wouldn't get the first time. Some have the benefit of background in these areas, but I had none. Starting from Ground Zero means you have a lot of catching up to do.

If experience has taught me anything about myself however, it is that it doesn't take me long to get the hang of things. It is something I've come to believe about myself, and it is with this attitude that I started this program. Having been in situations where you're slammed with a whole lot of information you can't make heads or tails of is nothing new to me. I did four years of that at University. Having soldiered through that mess, I know that eventually you do come out the other side with a whole lot of information, a broader perspective, and a clarity most will never have. I imagine it works the same here.

THE FUN OF LEVEL 1

My progress has come in fits and starts. Level 1 I found to be relatively easy. I went through every lesson methodically, followed the instructions, and, because I am obsessively linear in my thinking, made sure every task was done and every task box checked before I moved onto the next lesson. While I was doing this however, I also tried my best to understand what was being taught. It's important to me I comprehend how the Internet works, and what Google is looking for when assigning rankings. I get the concept that understanding the foundations of how the Internet and rankings work and creating quality content is essential to a long term presence on the Internet. And long term is what I'm interested in.

THE COMPLEXITY OF LEVEL 2

Level 2 is where the quagmires started. The lessons became more difficult and complex, and I found myself spending sometimes several days on one lesson, as I picked my way through any given set of instructions. Because I don't have the background many of you have, I found myself grappling with things like Google Authorship and my Google Plus account (which I still don't really know how to operate). That, coupled with the fact that I work full time slowed the process considerably. Still, my belief in my ability to figure things out prevailed, and I managed in one way or another to get to where I am now, at Level 2, Lesson 10. The road here has at times has been messy, and no, I haven't done everything perfectly, but when I stand back and look at what I knew 5 months ago vs. what I know now, I realize I've learned A LOT.

THE TREPIDATION OF LEVEL 3

So onward to Level 3. I have no doubt I will hit bumps on this road as well, but my enthusiasm and belief in my ability to figure things out remains undiminished. Nothing worth having comes easily, and so I am willing to apply myself until these concepts start becoming second nature. As for what is happening on my website: about 5 days ago, I started getting several visitors and comments posted, although I suspect most were from Wealthy Affiliate, but I can't be sure. At some point in the not-too-distant future, I'd like to pull people from my rankings and make some sales, just to see how that whole process works. But all in good time.

MY STRATEGY GOING FORWARD

For now the plan is to return to my lessons, where I will try my best to comprehend everything in Level 3. I do worry that there's bits of critical info I've missed up to this point, but I don't know that for a fact, and it's too soon to tell. All I know is that I've done the best my brain allows given my level of knowledge . At this point however, I think I need to put my doubts aside, and do what is in the best interest of my progress, which is to keep moving forward!
