I've hit a brick wall!

I'm not sure what is wrong with me these past few weeks but I feel like I have hit a brick wall.

My enthusiasm, motivation and creativity seem dried up.

I have no energy at the end of the day to work on my website...even if I find the time for it.

I am a firm believer of taking time for yourself when you need it and not to burn yourself out. I thought that was all this was and that I'd take a night or two off and then move forward. The motivation just has not been there though.

I've had some great news at my day job as I was offered a permanent position in the company (I am currently 6 months through a 1 year contract)that will come with a decent pay raise which means I can balance my budget finally.

I still want my website to be successful though and hopefully if I can get it to make some money I will be able to pay off my credit card debts faster and then put away some savings for a nice vacation next year.

So far my website is not doing as well as I hoped. I get barely any traffic and no conversions yet. I don't think I am ranking well yet either. I know it takes time but it is hard to keep moving forward when I've seen little in terms of results so far.

I just feel stuck. Following the lessons I need to write another post. It is supposed to be another review post, but as most of my posts have affiliate links in them I kind of wanted to do the opposite and just write an interesting and informative post without trying to sell anything...but I haven't been able to figure out a topic or keyword to even begin...and it has been a week!

I'm not sure what the point of this post is. I guess I just have to get these feelings out of me. Has anyone else been here? How did you get out of it?

Hi Amber

Everyone experience something like that at some point in anything they really want to succeed in. Just leave the website for a while and do something totally different, sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places. Hope it helps.

Good luck
Amie

Step away from the laptop and then come back with a fresh pair of eyes :)

Take a break, then come back and get motivated. I know you can do it.

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.” – Amelia Earhart

There was a news post today that Amelia did make it to an island and did send S.O.S. messages to get some help. She was not hurt too bad but her navigator was in pretty serious condition. I'm here to tell you, I hear your S.O.S! Hang in there!! When I feel that I just can't figure it out. I just tell myself, step away a while and go do something completely different and when I go back to it. I usually can figure it out. Most times I go back and say to myself "REALLY SERIOUSLY" you didn't see that and it was right there all the time. HANG IN THERE!!!!

It might be that you have such elation over your main job success that subliminally it leaches away your zeal and concentration on your website. You might want to double down and make sure of your priorities.

Also for sporting events don't they have a ski area right outside Calgary and then there is the annual Calgary Stampede.

There should be passion and desire to do this otherwise what you publish might be low quality and you yourself might not like it. So take some break and try to recharge and to find motivation to continue.

Add a few magazines to Flipboard, this might generate explosive traffic which could motivate you. This medium is unpredictable but it generated thousands of visitors in a single day. You can find 2 trainings in my profile.

I guess it good to be honest about your feelings and to share them is a noble thing. All of us have high hopes when we first come here because it seems so doable and just what we needed. Especially when you see others who are doing it. Why not me? The one thing I find is there is a lot of competition with whatever you write about especially if it's a popular subject. I'm too stubborn to give up. I'm always thinking, There has to be a way! They did it then so can I. Just have to be persistent and patient. I'm convinced success will come. If it's there, I'll find it. Nothing really good is easy to get.

Amber, I don't think what you have shared is unusual. We all have lots to do in a day, and get burned out--or have "hit a brick wall". Maybe it's good to take a break and revisit your site when you are ready. I think you will regain your motivation if you step away for a bit. I am sure of it. Hope this helps. Lainey

I've the energy, but I feel like I hit a brick wall as well and just became premium. my mind is drawing a blank on selecting a niche lol...I mean it cant be this hard to think of a niche.
I like helping people, help people lose weight since I'm into fitness, I like sports wrestling, football, like writing poetry yet having hard time putting it together on title of site I'll be building.

If anyone can help me think of a niche, narrow it down or whatever please let me know.

I know what you mean.
