Hey Alex,

I'd avoid JetPack like the plague, it's 14-in-1 bloatware, riddled with bugs and puts a huge load on a site by continually making unnecessary calls to WordPress.COM.

If your newsletter will add value to your visitors, then it's still a great tool to encourage them to return to your site. I'm finding that almost 40% of my sales are repeat customers. However, if all you're going to be doing is trying to push sales via a newsletter, then I wouldn't bother.

AWeber is currently the defacto standard for mail distribution, unless you can avail yourself of *free* services such as MadMimi, you always need to check to see if you fall foul of their exclusion lists, ie. https://madmimi.com/legal/terms There's training on setting up a free MadMimi list here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/setting-up-a-free-mailing-list-with-madmimi

RSS is enjoying something of a resurgence, thanks to apps such as Flipboard http://www.flipboard.com

Hope this is helpful. :)

Rich.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a detailed reply Rich.

I am thinking of not bothering with a newsletter as such, but putting what I would have put in a newsletter on the blog. Thus people would sign up to the blog via email primarily and receive the posts (which would also include 'newsletter' type material). Many of my posts/news items would not be selling anything, though some would. I think that if i put all content on my blog that will help with SEO and 'content juice' etc. I can see however that dated newsy material would not be so suited to being put on the blog, which I think is the biggest flaw of combining the two (blog and news posts) into one delivery method. Then I think of what Jon Morrow (big wig at Copyblogger) says....

Anyway, it is much clearer now that I should not use JetPack.

What a load of horrible terms Mad Mimi has. Thanks for the heads up about that. I will avoid them.

So, I need to decide if I separate news and blog.....and if so, whether I continue to use Feedblitz.

Oh, and by the way, my site is www.PsycheWizard.com

Thank you,

Alex

I have used Aweber for a few years...it is great...Don't know if you have seen this it may help for how to build a list...https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/building-a-mailing-list

If you get stuck or need help just ask...Lots of folks here with experience with list building and the like...

Thanks Ronny for taking the time to reply. And no, I had not seen that tutorial so thanks a lot for the tip off. Alex
